I've got these in my 87, but red.
Nah, the ones I have are recessed into the door panels. I'm going to try working on finding new doors that are manual probably next year. Almost got these power windows fixed just having some relay issues which means power's not connecting right somewhere.
I tried and tried to find replacements with no luck except for $150 ~ $200 oem. I ended up just getting some back door switches from a 2nd gen (~$5 each from a pick and pull) and rewired them into the center console. You could also buy some generic new ones and do the same. I then just covered the armrest hole with some black vinyl. Looked decent enough.
I'm in the process of doing this right now. My switches and housings were trashed and I'm building totally new circuits. Also the rear window was a mess and I am including that one in this as well.
My plan is to use double pole double throw momentary switches, with relays (what exact relays, I'm still working on). I'm going to run all the wires to the center console and fab some covers for the door switches out of sheet metal.

So after looking and looking, I can't seem to find any tutorials or list of parts for totally replacing the factory switches.
I think the double pole double throw momentary switch is easy, I found plenty of those. But is there a special type of relay I need? I would assume I need 6 pins, and I keep running across a few with 5, can anyone point me in the right direction?

No special relay. Relay only feeds power to the switches. Most relays are 4 post. 12v constant in, turn on, 12v out, ground. You can get a 5 post with two 12v out if you want to run both switches off a single relay. Lots of diagrams online about setting up a relay, usually with lights but its the same concept for windows.

I know its a dead thread but I'm gonna try resurrect to finally tackle figuring out why my molded power window switches wont roll the front windows up or down. Im working with an 89 first gen with power doors.
I am assuming problem in the drivers side switch or with the master window lock button since both wont budge. Does anyone have a pinout of the switch or the door harnesses? I'll start poking around if not but it would be a great help. If you guys came up with replacement anything that worked I'd love to see that too.

If you look through threads from the last few weeks you'll see one with links to FSMs which have wiring diagrams.

You have to realize, 80's 4Runners are now 40 yrs old, and the truck version even older. You can still get tons of important parts, but small body related things not so much.
Yeah, I mean I get that. The average age of our fleet is probably about 30 years old so I run into stuff being NLA pretty regularly. At the same time, there's certain stuff that breaks regularly that either the OEM or aftermarket sees a value in continuing to produce because so many vehicles using it were built. In my experience with other older vehicles window switches usually fall into that latter category. For my 83 300SD those things are like 10 bucks on ebay. Just find it curious is all.
