Replacement speaker choice?

Now that I have settled on my new HU, I'm looking at my choices for replacing the front speakers. Because I want to limit the amount I'm spending, I will run these off of the amp within the HU so I can't have anything that needs a lot of power to sound good.

I'm also still weighing what size to use... I'd prefer to go with components, but I am concerned with the loss of bass by going from the stock 6x9's to an aftermarket set of component 6.5's, particularly when they will not be powered by an amp.

Any thoughts on the potential loss of lower frequencies by going from 6x9s to 6.5s in the door or potential brands/models to look at? Tarheel suggested Memphis, and I like what I saw there. I also read some good stuff on CDT and they have 6x9 components for $150 which is at the high end of my range.

I am about to add 6.5" components to mine, JL VR. I would highly suggest amping the speakers if you can, especially if you are going with CDT or like kind.

I'm not tied to any particular brand or configuration, but I want to get the best sound quality I can provide without amping the speakers separately.

Have had nothing but Pioneer Premier PRS series and some Pioneer 5.25's in the rear doors of my 99 SR5. Right now in my 06 I am running MTX coaxs off of a Pioneer AVIC D3 headunit. Sounds good just not enough lead in it's azz for me. Adding amps and subs soon.

Whats a good AMP and SPEAKER combo thats not too expensive? If your amping speaking are components a better way to go?
