Replacing Side Mirror

I have a 2011 SR5 and need to replace my passenger mirror. Purchased a new on on ebay...now need to install. I have been searching for directions, and found a thread on removing door panels. One of the first picks shows the small triangle piece of plastic removed from inside door (think its the A pillar) and it almost looks like you can detach the side mirror without removing the whole door panel. Is that true? If not, anyone know of a thread to remove the side mirrors? Thanks

Technically you are correct. The mirror will come off with the bolts behind that panel, however, the harness plug for the mirror is behind the door panel.
Bottom line- gotta remove the door panel. It's easy though!

How did the replacement go?
I have to do the same thing and I could use tips if you have any.
Also - any info on the store or seller you bought the replacement from on eBay would be great too.
Thanks

I've thought and wondered about getting SR5/LE mirrors to replace mine. I was thinking/hoping that the wiring harness would be there for the puddle light & blinker and it would be an easy swap.

So I was just looking at this myself since I was pondering putting some some of tiny surface mount LED bubble for the signal light on the standard SR5 mirror. As an aside I was going to originally do this standard trick but A) that front marker has poor side visibility anyhow & B) when the switch was in the parking light position and my front drl/signal lights are on because the engine is running this little marker would be off (not actually a big deal).

Anyhow I'd assumed the led feed was there. Now I've looked at the wiring diagrams and it *appears* that while some of the harness pins are not the same (changed mirror/heating pins for some unknown reason) for I3/I4 & H3/H4. Since is sounds like you have had your mirror off (along with taking everything else apart on your 4runner! :wink2:) did you actually confirm that there were no wires at I4-10,11 & H4-10,11?

The reason for this is that IMHO side signals should not even be an option; they aren't in many other jurisdictions.
