Requesting Advice from the Pros

So, I purchased my 2010 Trail about a year ago with grand plans of what I wanted to do with it to make it a camping worthy vehicle. I'm not a hardcore off road guy so my offroading would be limited to trails and semi-remote roads to get to camping spots etc.

The advice I'm asking is for what mods I should make a priority. All I have done so far is upgrade my tires to BFG ATs and I'm currently ordering a Gobi rack with ladder through the group buy.

I'm looking mainly for versatility and functionality for camping, dragging around SUP boards and bikes etc. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I've been running a stock suspension on Duratracs with few issues for the kinds of roads you are talking about. With better tires, the stock TE is a remarkably capable vehicle. Getting in and out has not been an issue, leaving me better able to focus on what works best for the actual camping.

The TE's in stock form are very capable as SeattleMike mentioned already. However, Before I lifted mine, out in the desert, I would constantly be hitting the underside of the 4Runner. Every one of my skid plates has multiple dents in it. That's the only negative of them in stock form. I recommend getting BudBuilt skids if you want to keep it stock height, or lift it or both if its in your budget. I chose to first lift mine, budbuilt skids might come later. I haven't hit the stock skid plates once since lifting.

Dual battery kit for sure. It's great not having to worry about how long the lights have been on, what's been plugged in, if you should run it for awhile....
