I know many aftermarket stereos can be connected to our steering wheel controls via adapters, made by PAC and other manufacturers. However, Parrot uses a proprietary interface that may only be connected to their UNIKA steering wheel interface controller. So I'm stuck using that. I installed a Parrot Asteroid Smart head unit (love it) and I bought the UNIKA also, but later discovered that the 5th Gen T4R isn't supported (yet). I'm looking for help. My stock head unit is gone. But maybe one of you have the answer... I'm looking for someone with a multimeter and access to the back of their stereo to do some readings to see amperage and voltage across three wires in particular, to help Parrot release instructions for installation of their UNIKA in our trucks.
These are the three wires in question (white, blue, red) and they're attached via the G9 (E) connector at the back of the head unit at pins 6, 7, and 8:
And here is what plug G9 looks like (lower left hand of image):
It seems like the head unit supplies some unspecified voltage on the blue wire and the head unit detects button presses by changes in the signal detected on the white and red wires. Changes in voltage are accomplished by various resistors in line with each steering wheel button's momentary switch.
So... anyone feel like getting out their multimeter? :tea:
