Rev limit?

Hey all, I have a 97 4Runner with the v6 and 4x4. Just picked it up last week and loving it!!!

Anyways, do our trucks have a rev limiter when it's in park or neutral? If so, what rpm is the limit?

Hmm your truck 99.9% sure has a rev limiter. Mine hits it right at red line 6k? Idk I don't pay attention to it to much since I drive a auto and only hit the limiter wide open snow wheeling.

The limiter kicks in at 5750rpm or so. Just above the redline at 5500rpm.

No. That's more on newer vehicles and is commonly called a launch limiter.

Well mine is manual so not for me. But i don't think its any different for the autos.

The short answer: Plain ol curiosity.

The long answer is WAY too much to type, and it's not really all that interesting lol.

That said, I realize that my original question is slightly odd.
