Rhino Hitch Step Doesn't Fit

Does anyone know what the standard size is for the factory hitch that comes with the 2003 Sport Edition? Reason I ask, I ordered the Go Rhino hitch step from Cabelas.com...told them my car...and once I try to plug it in...it didn't fit. It's too big. Does that make any sense? the htich step is a 2 inch by 2 inch and the receiver on the truck is a hair too small. Measures about 1 7/8 inches square. I thought sizes for hitches were pretty universal. Any advice.

4Runner's come with a 2" receiver. Cabela's screwed that one up. Rhino must have some bad steel (oversized). Return it to Cabela's and let them sort it out.

There was a TSB on some of the 2003 hitch receivers. Look at techinfo.toyota.com for the specifics, but I think I remember something about this being listed.

2003's came with the smaller receiver.

You should be able to return your GoRhino
for one of the proper size.

2004's and later have the 2" receiver.

That is weird because I was able to transfer my Rhino hitch step from my 2003 Sport to my 2005 Limited. My Limited even has a diferent type of hitch and it fit with no problem. I used the same lock and pin as well.

I believe all came with the 2" receiver, but some 2003 models had a defective part. Hence, the TSB.

Exactly... In fact, the hitch that Toyota gave me with my purchase does not actually fit in the receiver.
