say whaaaaaat? dude this is about as exciting as waiting the next episode of your favorite tv show. little cliff hanger action. These look sick! I cant wait to see the finished product.

What would I do without my precious Dremel!?!? Diamond bits FTW.
LS460's are larger than the LS430's. They are nearly identical except the LS430 is a low beam only and my LS460's are Bi-xenon. The solenoid sticks WAY out of the bottom. Either way, your in for some work.... haha
haha thanks dude! Unfortunately I haven't made any more progress. I think I have to make a vacuum forming table in order to close of the back of these things properly and make it look clean. Have I said that these projectors are MASSIVE?!?! lol Plus, I've been "doin' work" on the 4Runner. My steering rack went so I'm currently replacing that and a few other items.
I still plan on wrapping these up by the end of the month though so stay tuned...

Sorry for the tease everyone! It's a toss up lately, I either spend my weekends out on the trail or spend them at home working on my headlights. As you can see from my wheeling pics thread, I've been choosing the "outdoor" approach more frequently. hahah
Anyways, did some work on the lights today. Still a ways to go but made some good progress. Not much to show but this will give you a hint as to where my turn signals are going....

My goal is to have the headlights done by next friday... fingers crossed.
Anyways, did some work on the lights today. Still a ways to go but made some good progress. Not much to show but this will give you a hint as to where my turn signals are going....

I tell you what, building retrofit headlights sure is an art.
They look absolutely perfect man. Can't wait to see them installed! And with the turns in the headlight...you open up lots of possibilities for lighting in an aftermarket bumper, having 4 openings for real lights instead of just two.

Yah, the xB angel eyes will blink plenty fast. I'll grab a vid of the turn signals when these finally get finished.
In the meantime, here is my current progress:
- painted housings
- finished trimming for projectors
- heated and molded outer mounting bracket to clear LS460 solenoid (underneath)
- mock-up and mounted: horizontal alignment is 98% perfect. Another tweak and they will be done. Then need to perma-mount them and vacuum mold the rear of the headlights to seal them up
Looks like October will be the finished product as I'm headed back up north on Tuesday for work.... one day I will actually get to enjoy these.

mmm those look great man! This makes me want to take mine apart now and redo them with some bigger projectors, paint and other stuffs i have planned for them. Looks great though. lets see those output pictures!

You can do this! Just takes some time and patience.
Funny you say that as my original plan was to keep the housings and projectors chrome. After I cut 1/2 of the housings off to make the projectors fit, and had tons of scuffs on the chrome ( I even had them taped off....), I realized that painting them was really the only option. I am happy with the outcome but would have been happy with all-chrome as well. If I were you, I wouldn't paint a set of OEM JDM imported headlights either. Lookin forward to seeing your progress man!

The output is so awesome.... but I dont have any pics. I just finished the projector mounting last night and I'm gone to work for another month tomorrow. So....output and completion of this project won't be until October. I'm running Morimoto 3Five Ballasts and Philips 85122+ bulbs. Thinking of upgrading to the 5000K Osram's....
lol well when your ready for it, shoot me a PM and we can make that arrangement happen!

Omg your 4runner is staring at us, all of us! Haha those are awesome projectors. From the pics it looks as if they almost stick out of the headlight housing itself. How close are they to the headlight cover?
