Why you gotta hate? Not like there aren't people from the "other" forum with newer trucks on here too.
 
Hey I'm not quite at 300,000kms yet... 281,xxx kms!! lol But it does still pur like a kitten.

I have to agree that the 3rd gen bodystyle is AWESOME, and I believe to be one of the most "timeless" truck/SUV designs that Toyota has ever released. BUT I'm always game to see the new trucks out playing and I actually really like the newer gens. The 4th gen has been growing on me tremendously to the point that I actually browse for them on autotrader sometimes. The 5th gen is better looking than the 4th IMO but I can't see myself wheeling a new vehicle. I've got to give Marc props in that respect - he takes his new 5th out and wheels it more/harder than most of the sub $10,000 "built" trucks in our area.

And side note: I love that Intruder wheels his 5th gen so often.

No write-up from me today. I'm simply still in awe of the amount of snow there was - the most pow I've ever wheeled. Awesome day, awesome snow, awesome trucks. Only bad thing was the highway closures as we tried to make it back home. I arrived home at midnight and only suffered a broken Leatherman Tool after I lent it to a random person who had just rear-ended a police officer.... haha long story...

My radio crackles to life as the others behind me suggest taking the other line to the left. I will ignore their suggestions unless I can't get it on this next attempt. I back further up and give it the beans. My dog bounces in the air as the rear of the Duster gives the ice a hard bump and the MTZ's claw at the ice. I'm up and on my way. The other two follow suite with much less difficulty than I.... I like to think that I smoothed it out for them. :wink2:

Wheeling question: why wouldn't your first tries be with the diff already locked?

A locker is a is a very valuable offroad tool that will greatly increase your vehicles capability but it's not necessarily the best choice for every type of terrain or obstacle. Not to mention, sometimes it's also fun to challenge yourself and your driving skills to overcome an obstacle without the locker engaged. In this particular situation, I thought I might be able to do the obstacle without the locker engaged. After a few attempts, I was not making any progress, so I locked it up.

You out to hand it over so you can plow through the snow and get a good action shot!
 
Just wanted to reiterate what everyone else has been saying. Awesome pictures, and fantastic stories when you write them up. I always get the itch to go wheeling when I look at this thread. I can't believe how much snow you guys had in the last trip.

gotcha, its already a challenge for me, so i've got everything on from the start.

Thanks! I'm glad it motivates you to get out and enjoy the outdoors. That much snow makes me want to STAY out there...

No worries, play around an learn slowly. The locker is there to help. Just keep in mind that having some "finesse" and picking good lines will go a LONG ways offroad. Just keep learning your vehicle and keep practicing and it won't always be so hard.... well unless your running Hammer trails like JMoney and the like... haha but those are fun because they are hard.

Haha no doubt. I'm itching to get out again, but my truck is kind of like my snowboard.

Looks like I'm going CAMPING for the Easter long weekend. I'm guessing the conditions will be snow/mud as we've been having some really warm weather. It may get interesting out there. Hopefully I don't freeze....
