Use the search bar, some guys will give you crap for just making a new post but if you do a little searching and post on a older thread then they are more likely to help just a friendly reminder.

Here you go. 4Runner Heater Controls and LCD Backlight - YouTube you'll have to buy the bulbs at the dealer for direct plug and play. You can switch to LEDs but you'll have to do 2 mins of work.

You have to "unhook" the positive and negative leads from the current bulbs and the LEDs have long leads you'll have to shorten them and "rehook". Superbrightleds.com vleds.com and theres some more I cannot recall. I can't remember the part number though.

On the superbrightled website you need Neo 4 for the lcd screen. Theres two bulbs for the screen but I would get an extra, they fit a little snug. Super simple to replace!!

I just got my NEO 4 (4mm) high power bulbs from superbright. they fit fine. Do not buy the 3mm or 5mm bulbs. I bought an assortment thinking I would swap out the other bulbs. They do not fit.

Also do not buy the amber bulbs as it says to do on the superbright website. I did and they are really, really dim. the original bulbs are clear so I ordered a set of cool white to put in instead but they haven't arrived yet.

I would note that I hooked up the amber LEDs to 12vdc and they are plenty bright. Just not when going through the amber filter in the display.

Thanks for posting info. I was afraid I was going to have to replace the whole thing due to a half dim screen backlight. Seems the bulbs are the issue. Really helpful.

I did this a couple months ago as the left side of the display was not illuminating. this is a good writeup, with pics and part numbers, of what you need to do.

I just replaced this exact bulb the other day. Went to the local dealer that I like, they had the replacement bulb for about $4. Popped out the dash, swapped out the bulb....bingo. Simple replacement.

Same here, a few months back.

Only "downside" is that I haven't been able to find the bulbs at any of the big auto supply stores, just the Toyota dealer. $4 each sounds about right. I bought an extra one and put it in the glovebox just in case.

Yeah I just replaced both bulbs in there at the same time, even though the other still provided light. Just for good measure, and with my luck the other bulb would go out the next day.

Does anyone know what is the point of this green rubber cap. This is the bulb that goes into the HVAC dials.

The NEO 3 fit fine for me. What was the issue? It might be a little tight but you can either force them in or shave some of the plastic on the bulbs. Either way, they fit.

I brute forced a NEO three into the reset button space. Once I got the LED in, the base wouldn't go in further or latch. I probably could have shaved the bulb and/or shaved the PCB but it really just didn't fit right. When the bulb does go, I'll just use the old holder to make my own LED bulb. With LEDs, I shouldn't ever have to do it again. I only ordered the NEO bulbs because they are fairly cheap and I was being lazy.

thanks for all the info,

as someone mentioned, the bulb size is neo 4 on the superbight led site, does anyone know the cross reference part number for the rest of the bulbs such as A, B D and E from the diagram....
