Does wheel width have as much to do with clearance issues as overall diameter?

Yes as does offset. The tire guide only works with stock wheels.

I'm riding on Level 8 Strike 6 wheels with Nitto terra G2's 265/70/17 , it has a little poke but its fine with me.
it rubs while i reverse on full lock...

Was bored so I was doing some math:

Ideally you want a 4.5 backspace for our trucks. I was looking at back spacing of 4.25 and wondered what the offset was. 4.5 equates to a 0mm offset and a 4.25 backspace equates to a -6mm offset.

So would .25" really cause a lot of rubbing (rubber depending)? I don't think so... especially if you got people -10 to -12 that barely rub.
