Terrible news for all you offroad baja 1000 fans. Kurt Caselli has passed away due to head trauma caused by a booby trap set up by people who enjoy watching people crash. Disgusting. Prayers to his family. You will be missed Kurt!

According to competitors who were there, it was a racing accident, and not the result of a booby trap.

Either way it's a shame. Although it's a risk you take when doing events like that. Not saying it's something to take lightly but you gotta pay to play.

As someone who participates and follows off-road riding/racing, I was devastated to see a fellow ride down. I was speechless when I first read the initial report. At least he was taken by doing something he loved, yet I fell terrible for his family's loss. RIP Kurt Caselli
