The side by side pics are awesome. Now I'm starting to understand color matching your bumper. What a clean, bestial look. I'm not sure if I used bestial correctly, as I'm not trying to imply impure acts with animals, rather how aggressive yet refined your bumper appears to be good sir!

Hey awesome 4runner. I was looking around to get some ideas when i came across your build thread and i must say very impressive. I used to have a 99 4runner limited 2wd but sold it awhile back. Looking at getting a 98-02 4x4 this time and plan on lifting it pretty much the same way you did. Some places say the upper control arms are needed others do not. I didnt see that you replaced yours and i was curious if you knew what the advantage was. Also you can run 33's? (285/75r16) with no rub on your setup? and with the brake upgrade did you ever see if the 16 inch rims would work or not? Just trying to get an idea before i get one on the funds i should put aside from selling my truck here soon. Awesome build

HAM Radio Install, K9000 motorized mount

Today I FINALLY installed my 2M HAM radio. In addition to that, I had a Diamond K9000 motorized antenna so that I could still go in the garage. haha!
Parts:
-Yeasu 1500M 2m HAM radio
-Diamond K9000 Motorized mount (with LRM crossbar mount)
-Diamond Antenna
-DPDT Momentary center-off rocker switch
Started with wiring the motorized mount..
The K9000 comes with a pretty ugly switch, so I swapped in a new one.
The wiring for the new switch is a bit intimidating, but it really is quite simple.
All you do is have the power and ground come in on the two top prongs and cross over to be reversed on the two prongs on the opposite side. Then the leads for the mount motor come off the middle! Its that easy!
Got all the wires tucked away.
This is where I mounted the new radio, its really the only spot I had left in the truck, haha.

That motorized antenna is pretty slick, and I'm sure it's a good feeling to know that if you get into trouble by yourself in the middle of nowhere you can call for help. Nice work!

I am still trying to figure out all the settings on the radio, but Im sure Ill be able to reach quite far :biggrin2:

I've heard you can talk across STATES with those things under the right conditions. I'm curious to see what kind of range you can squeeze out of it.

Old 180* thermostat out, stant 170* is now in.
Got a part number for the Stant 170? Available at Napa?

Stant 14077 and the new seal is stant 27286.
IDK if napa has them, but pep boys had the thermostat. I ended up getting them on amazon.
