Thanks Addison. Its gonna be pretty sweet, im going to help my grandpa clear out his garage and hes gonna give me a bunch of his old tools. Hes got easily a 100k worth of equipment in there. Big stuff too, like lathes and drill presses.

Did you see the pic I posted of the rear axle clearance when flexing a few weekends ago? I think there should be plenty of room for at least a 12" shock as long as the mount is far enough forward.

This one was taken looking back at the rear passenger tire to illustrate my point. As you can see from the bump stop, its already near full compression so that tire is not gonna go much farther up there.

How long of shock? Any wheel spacers? Is the shock mount forward of the top of the tire? I want to do this to mine asap.

I love the overall look of your rig.

Both. Mainly a much higher shock mount.

ah got ya. so should have that done by moab huh? your gonna be ready this year with being locked and fine tuned now :reddance:

I'm going to check out your CB install write-up. I guess I need to get one before the Moab trip. I don't know why but I've been trying to avoid getting one forever. Where'd you buy your setup?

I'm in the same boat, I've been avoiding the whole CB thing for a while (I had one in my last two rigs and never used it) but between possibly going out to Moab, and wanting to wheel with some other guys that require a CB, I just broke down and bought the gear. I went through RightChannelRadios.com, they have great service, good selection and a bunch of technical articles on installing the radio, and adjusting SWR.

Yes I did! I actually saw it a bit ago and had to run and forgot to comment. It's already been saved in my "rear Long Travel folder" on my computer.

Funny you guys are talking about this... I too have been putting off the CB radio thing as I personally have no use for them other than them being requirements for TW Moab, Cruise Moab, and the like. To be honest, I've had this debate with my fellow CT4WD'ers on numerous occasions. IMO the modern FRS radios are cheaper, have better range than I've seen with CB's, and are portable. We use them on ALL of our runs. When other "clubs" find out we use these "toys" we've even been mocked for doing it. I just think that there is no difference really between a CB and a FRS in terms of range and usability. (someone with real radio knowledge correct me if I'm wrong) If your really worried about survival and having a rescue tool, you should have a satellite phone or a HAM (VHF) radio.

lol funny thing is that they are located in SLC but they dont have a store front but definitely have a good knowledge base and honestly really helpful. will more than likely be ordering from them here very very soon!

This thing is nice man! good work on everything. I didnt read through everything but did you remove the sway bars? Im trying to figure out what to do with mine, need longer rear links to fit or take it off and in front i think it limits travel?

I leave both in. I've been meaning to get some 2nd gen links because they are longer.
Take them both out when I go wheeling though. Disconnect front and remove links, take the whole rear bar out.

My rear took quite a few hits, but my trailer hitch saved it a million times. My front would have been trashed if I didn't have a high clearance steel bumper.

Basically they will both take a lot if hits.. if you have a hitch then I would get a new front. If not then might want to look into a rear and just prepare for your front to take a lot of damage

Ok yeah that is that I was figuring on. I have the hitch. It is just sitting in my garage waiting to be flipped and installed. Looks like the front it is. Thanks for the input bud.

Re-Done Custom TRD Centercaps and Lug nuts- in Blue!

First thing I have done in a while I know.. It's not even that great

My old red TRD center caps were peeling something fierce so I re-did them over the past few days. Ever since I painted my winch fairlead blue, I wanted to redo the caps in blue too to stick with that color scheme and now I did!

Parts:
$12.58 - Gorilla 61631 Acorn Guard Locks (12mm x 1.50" Thread Size)
$10.00 - Custom Blue TRD Decals by Sockmonkey
$4.39 - (1) Metallic Blue spray paint can
$4.39 - (1) Clear Gloss spray can


You can see how bad the old ones were peeling in this picture:

For this mod, I also bought some new Gorilla 61631 Acorn Guard Locks (12mm x 1.50" Thread Size).

I started off by removing the wheels, sanding off the paint from the old Center caps and winch fairlead. The fairlead was kind of beat up so I decided to repaint it too.

After the paint dried, I applied the new TRD decals. This time I went with just cut out letters instead of the circle with letters in it.

Then came the clear coats This was after I had already re-installed the fairlead:

All installed, terrible picture I know!

I have also been working on the front mud flaps lately, just trying to get the cut right before I post them.
