Thanks! The only flaw I can find on it is the small dime sized scuff in the powdercoat on the top of the intake tube. Other than that, shes a beauty!

So today, my focus was to get the Autometer trans temp gauge working properly again.

I took the sender assembly out, disassembled it, cleaned it, and re-assembled it with new wire connections and teflon. After I got everything hooked back up, I started the truck..


No dice, the autometer gauge sat steady at 220* while the SG reads 145*..

So I just ordered a replacement sender, cost $15 on amazon. It should be here Wednesday, then let's see if the gauge decides to work properly.

I also removed the Sport edition skid and refurbished it. Spent a good hour with a power sander, then a few coats of clear gloss.

Custom Low-Profile TRD center caps:

I have had this mod in mind and the materials in hand for a while now. So I banged it out this week.

The hardest part for this mod was finding the right center caps. Every cap I could find that had a flat top was AT LEAST 4" tall. I would accept 3" tall as the absolute maximum. After many hours of searching, I found a set.

$15 each at summit racing, a bit of a steep price. But, I had to have them..

These caps had a few things I would have to deal with though. First, they had a raised logo on the tops.. No problem, put a wooden baseball bat under it and hammer them flat! Also as these where chrome, I had to paint them black. So, I went at them with the power sander.

The decals I ordered from a vendor on Tacomaworld. His username is "Sockmonkey" and he specializes in all kinds of custom bedside and window decals, along with many other custom decals. I had him make me a set of circular decals with the letters TRD in them.
Total came out to $10 which was very reasonable!

After a few coats of clear gloss.

Compared to the Fugly center caps that came with my wheels..

Overall:

I am very happy with how these turned out. The tops of the caps line up with the plane of the spokes, so its all nearly flush. I think it really completes the look of the wheels I was looking for when I bought them originally.

I ended up putting the 265/75/16 Revo 2's on the wife's Pre-Runner this afternoon. Her Truck feels nice and solid on the road now....

Silverstars are still going strong, since like april or march or something. I dont use them all the much becuase I disabled the daytime running lights, if anything I only use them in the morning becuase I am up at ungodly hours of the morning.

She had 275/70/16 Michelin LTX M/S on there since 02 which were pretty cracked up.

Actually, the speaker on the CB is not blocked, The ash tray cubby has room for the ash tray to slide down and out, and it is that room that leaves space for the speaker. There are no blockage issues to worry about with this setup.

Project SUPER TUNE-UP! Update

So, the parts are nearly all gathered and the date has been set! Install will be tackled the weekend of August 26th, 27th and 28th. I have set aside 3 days in case I should need anything, as the truck will not be started until the install is 100% done.

Today, after filling up, I calculated 19.8 MPG with 15 gallons, am I liking how this new Scangauge is helping me keep my lead foot under control. And this is BEFORE project SUPER TUNE-UP! So I am interested to see how it is after..

Well I got the new sender unit in today, so I swapped it out.

You're nuts letting those dudes get near your 4Runner. I've taken mine to an Octopus ONCE and I watched those mofo's like a hawk. They will jack up your ride in a heartbeat if you don't keep an eye on 'em.

Not to mention they always do a crappy job. If you take a dirty car to a carwash, it should come out clean. I always have to make them send mine through twice.

Ok, end car wash rant. Carry on.

BTW, very ambitious of you to try and get all of that done in 3 days. If you are successful, I will :bravo: loudly!

It was funny though, when they saw me bring the camera out as the truck got to them, they went to get new towels, haha! I guess that's the secret to getting it done right. It is still a very rare occasion that I go there, I usually spend all morning by myself washing.
