Just got back from our first road trip in our 2013 SR5. I haven't calculated total MPG yet but it should be around 21 based on figuring each leg as we went. We drove from Wichita KS to the San Francisco area and then down the PCH to Paso Robles CA and over to Poway CA. Then to Tucson - then up to Phoenix. Last leg was up to Flagstaff AZ and then I40 to OKC and then I35 back up to Wichita. Total miles was 4764. We did drive around some in each place we stayed.

The end result is the 4runner is a great road trip vehicle. We had it fully loaded with luggage, tools and other stuff. No problem with highway speeds of 70 - 85, hills, etc. The V6 ran strong all the way. 1Engineer is right about the computer learning and adjusting as you drive. The only problem we encountered is the rear wiper wouldn't work - I haven't looked into that yet.

Also did a 7k mile road trip this summer and 2014 SR5 4wd did great, Averaged 22.22 mpg. The driver seat could be a bit more comfortable but was ok. And no problems what so ever.
 
Awesome! Should've hit me up when passing through Flagstaff and we could've hit some local trails

We did a 2500 mile round trip to Colorado this July and it was awesome. I've never had such a good experience driving for that long. Drove from Houston to Colorado Springs in one day and averaged just over 21 mpg fully loaded with the fam and luggage.

My biggest complaint was cruise control prior to the trip tended to overcompensate for hills... not any more. The truck finally figured out how to smoothly accelerate during the trip.


All in all, a great experience.
 
Well I think you're right. I found the rear window down almost an inch. I closed it with the key. I'll test the wiper when I wash the truck later and can get the window wet. Thanks again.

This was my first ever problem with the 4R and I called the dealer who told me the same thing.

The longest trip I've taken was a round trip of about 1200 miles with 3 adults and bags and I ended the trip @ 21.6mpg.

:drum: Same issue on our 2015, never tried to use the rear wiper until recently. Could not locate a bad fuse. Took to dealer - found problem. Motor unplugged, probably from factory. Mushimoto-san must have had a hard night, or light push did not work on the plug when going by on the assembly line.
