These might not align with the Thule's mount locations. It's still doable if you don't mind drilling a few new holes in your expensive Thule and concocting your own mounts (u-bolts or pipe straps or whatever).

You could always sell that Thule box and get one with an adjustable mount system that was designed to accommodate variations in crossbar distances.

pawzitiv- can you get me some measurements? I'm looking for the distance from the back crossbar to the front. I have ski racks on top and am thinking if I get this rack I could still use them during the winter and remove them (or even fold them down...hmm) during the summer for camping.

Rocky road adventure rack, INSTALLED, two people would make it easier, (I know this has been stated) not really sure how much easier maybe 30%. The included instructions are guide to look at then probably forget about, used the roof rack delete thread from this forum on how to take off the rails and the advice in this thread on going front to back (instructions say back to front, shark fin in the way:wtf
, by following these it took me about 1.5 hours by myself. The worst is the torx screws holding the rails to the roof mounts, you need a ratcheting right angle t30 torx driver that is less than an inch tall, not even sure if such a thing is made. Will post pics later.

Hi there. I am considering a Rocky Road, and I'm really wondering how you feel about the black rack against the chrome roof rails. Looks OK?
I was considering buying a TE rack and then putting the Rocky Road on that just to get an all black look up there. But that sort of destroys the economy aspect of the Rock Road. Just looking for your impression here.

Thanks. I can see paint sticking to the plastic base covers, but those hard, shiny steel rails seem like they'd be very difficult to get paint to stick to.

In thinking about it, looking at and now having it. This rack would be even better if they had bumped out the front and back to the exact length of the roof rails, so about 8inches forward and 6inches back. Really would not have been that hard but would be worth like and extra $50 bucks easy to me. I did some really bad doodiling to show.

Rouge1, I like your idea. Here is a possible fix, (since you already own the one you have). Order the optional "light bar" (two of them) See if they (RR) will make them for you without the light mounts, then bring your already existing rack to a local welder, have them tack weld the light bar (instead of using the u-bolt mounts) to the front and rear cross bars of the existing rack. (The areas which you indicated.) You could have them weld it at a slightly higher angle from the existing crossbars, especially the back one in order to be above the "shark fin" antenna. You will then have pretty much what you are looking for....not as strong, but most of the weight should be centered over the existing rack anyways. The additions will be for overlap large items and tie downs.....I think you had a good idea there.
