RockyRoad sliders VS Shrockworks

For those of you that have the Shrockworks sliders, since they stick out a little further than the Rocky Roads, is there any chance of a female companion's heel accidentally getting caught on them when she is getting out?

My wife is a shorty-but-cutie... she has never had her heels get caught on my SW sliders, but she does complain about rubbing the back of her pants against "those dirty bars" when she slides out of the truck.

She does stand (one foot) on them as she pulls herself into the passenger seat using the grab handle.

I'm not sure the less wide RR sliders would eliminate that comment though

I also ordered a pair of Shrockworks Sliders. I was a bit concerned about delivery, but called and talked to Jim. He seems like a very nice guy and after talking to him have no further concerns. He told me 6-8 weeks delivery.

it'll probably be more like 10-14 weeks delivery, shrockworks is full of crap

I'm continuing to hear a lot of comments on the bad customer service from RRO. I don't know who they have answering customer inquiries, but that person needs to be fired.

My interaction with the owner was nothing but pleasant, if a bit slow due to him being out of the country. Maybe he should be hearing people's experiences directly: [email protected]

Whoever I talked with didn't seem to care whether he was there or not. Not only didn't want to look for answers but gave me wrong information. I'm very happy with the sliders but not with the non-existent customer service. This is not helping their business at all. That was back in September, maybe he's gone by now.

Jim actually volunteered information about that. The problem is that he was relying on outside suppliers who would tell him one thing, and then do another, which then made him look bad in telling customers when the product would be ready. I agree he should have made it clear what was happening. However, he has purchased laser cutter and is getting that going so as to not have to rely on outside companies to provide the materials. Hopefully, that will increase the realibility of delivery times. The problem is that his product is of high quality and there is a high demand, but he is a low demand outfit. But that's not a bad thing if you aren't in a hurry. I truly don't think he intended to misrepresent anything.

On the other hand, I only paid half down as a deposit. I personally think he should only charge when shipped, but that's between him and to his customers. Those that don't want to don't have to buy them.

do you think they would make a pair that was a little wider so that they might be more function step-wise? I don't want to mess around with rocker mods, like the door protection factor, and want to have kids able to climb in truck easier....thanks!!Or ever hear of other steps/bars that also protect doors? people in NJ suck and have no clue how to drive or park (lifelong resident)...:ybrick:

I don't know if you're handy...or know someone that is...but here is a set of Rocky Road Sliders I added steps to without a whole lot of difficulty.

Does anyone know the difference between the Trail Edition Rocky Road Sliders and the SR5/Limited sliders? I have an SR5, but I have removed my rocker panels. I wasn't sure if there were just spacers to adjust for the extra clearance necessary for the SR5 with the rockers.

Without the rockers I think you'll want the TE sliders. And yes, I would expect the spacing to be a bit different. Call, ask, and tell us if the could-not-care-less CS person is still there

No spacers. The arms on my sliders angle so as to clear the body rockers. If you removed the SR5/LE rockers and installed the sliders for that model it would have a large gap. As said, if you remove the rocker go with the TE sliders.

Thanks. I haven't called them yet, but I'm suprised they fab two different sliders for the TE and SR5/LE. I am up in the air over Rocky Road and Shockworks. I'll give Rocky Road a call and report back on any customer service issues.

I got my Shrocks in yesterday and I can't begin to tell you how good the auality is on these, and both Mark and Jim there were fantastic when it comes to customer service. Mark was emailing me ay 7pm last night to answer some stupid questions I had about the install. Even with a frame that didn't have all the threaded nuts, it really is a simple install.

I have the Rocky Road sliders. They were delivered within a week or so, cost was reasonable, and the install was simple - all bolting and maybe some drilling. They are very sturdy and fit tight. I have slammed mine into rocks, trees, etc.... and have lost a little of the PC. I removed mine and completely recoated them with black spray bed-liner to match my custom bumper. That stuff seems to be tougher than any PC.

I thought this would be a good thread to ask these questions....I like the RR but keep leaning towards the NFAB due to the step. I know the NFAB probably will give me no protection (maybe better then a stock running board) but (not considering the step)..is the nfab main beam lower then the RR or the shrockworks? I didnt get the trail running boards because it made the 4runner look lower (ground clearance between tires) and not as "beefy". I dont want the Nfabs to give it that same look but from what I seem they do seem higher then a normal running board but maybe not as high as a slider??? thoughts, advice? I know the step has an angle that goes downward a bit too...so who knows. Basically looking from some protection, not give up much ground clearance between tires and would like a step for the kids. I dont plan on a lift for awhile so having the 4 runner look higher and keep ground clearance is important. :shrug:

I remember seeing some photos of them installed in the pictures section here, and it looked like the nfabs cost you a fair amount of clearance. It didn't change the ground clearance to that of a Honda Civic, but yes, it cost clearance.
