I came across this today and wanted to share the eye candy.

This thing is pretty freaking sweet! The back wheels can be changed to full on continuous track! floaters that can be attached to the tires!

I never heard of this company "GHE-O Mottors"

If you're looking for an off-road vehicle in Romania, Ghe-O has you covered, offering rugged, trail-ready trucks. Now, Ghe-O has taken the next step by creating the ultimate emergency vehicle capable of tackling just about any terrain. Looking like the oversized spawn of a Jeep Wrangler and Hummer H1, the Ghe-O Rescue was recently unveiled at the Bucharest Auto Show.

The Rescue is nearly three feet longer and about two feet wider than a Hummer H1, and weighs about 500 pounds less, too. Those mammoth dimensions allow the Rescue to carry 11 passengers, but its design makes it a go-anywhere vehicle with a vertical approach angle, excellent ground clearance, lockable axles and powerful powertrains (customers can choose between a gas engine producing 340 to 500 horsepower, or a diesel engine putting out 218 to 304 hp). The biggest advantage of the Rescue, though, might be its available accessories like rear half-tracks, inflatable tire-mounted pillows for flotation, and water pumps with a tank to help fight fires. Looks OK, but after living 29 years in Romania I know everything made there is a piece a junk. Imagine the worst car made in US and multiply by 100 and you get the quality of a product made in Romania. It will break down in 6 months after you bought it brand new.
If you go off-road with that monster, maybe will be OK the first time, but the second time you will need another one to tow you back :)

I re-read the post with a Romanian accent.

That's one big looking truck and looks pretty useful in those conditions. The width doesn't look too road friendly but why take the road when you can take the river?

Funny guys, do you like my accent? :)
That monster would be a bad-ass here in US only if was build with japanesse parts, otherwise I would not buy it.

I don't know who wants to buy it in Romania.
To give you guys an ideea, the city tax you based on how big is the engine.
For a 4Runner you need to pay EVERY YEAR around $1400-$1500. When I talk with some old friends in Romania, they think I'm lying because we don't pay any taxes to the city every year.
The gas is around $7/gal.

That monster has for sure a bigger engine than a 4Runner, so more taxes and much more gas.

I like my 4Runner more because was built in Japan and it will not break down the road.

Last year I was thinking to move back to Romania and I wanted to get my 4Runner, but after doing some research wasn't worth it.
For the plates you have to pay based on CO2 emissions and since 4Runner was built outside Europe I had to pay the highest amount which was another $1000.

I could live with that, but every year to pay $1500 only because I have a 4.0L engine? Almost everybody drives cars with engines smaller than 2.0L or turbo less than 2.0L.

I don't think any sane man will buy that monster, only to keep it parked in front of the house because you don't have money for taxes or gas.
 
Emy has a point a LOT of Romanian made products aren't very good quality unfortunately... I like Romania, its my home country; and I wanna give them the benefit of the doubt because it does look very capable... but there is that looming specter of past mistakes. Then again, there is that massively awesome Russian Off-Road vehicle that's actually really well made (coming from a country that literally made a cardboard car...) so maybe there's some hope?

Either way it looks pretty epic!

Explain to me why everyone and their dog searches high and low for Romanian made AK barrels then? :eyebrows:

I wonder how soon until Richard Hammond wants to drive this thing on Top Gear?

Yes, you are right we did something good, the AK guns :)

But we made it for other countries, because you cannot buy an AK for personal use in Romania.

I hate guns and I never cared about Romanian guns. I didn't know about quality of those guns until I got here and a co-worker told me how much he likes it.

I believe they are made for the government to use as recover and available for sale necessarily to the public, [MENTION=59566]emy[/MENTION]?

If I had millions, I would buy one. lol

because it is cheaper version of AK compared to russian version.
 
IIRC, like the Egyptian Maadi, the Romanian is based on the same tooling as the Russian; thus making them compatible, and highly sought after for it's higher tolerances.
