Rooftop Molding

2016 Limited with about 500mi, and I noticed today the rooftop molding was raised at the front due to the double sided tape failing. Appears only this tape and a clip a few inches back hold down the molding.

Is everyone's molding this loose? Does it even matter? Obviously the strip is far from water tight.

Also, the molding itself has a groove as if it should hook into the roof. I'm not seeing how to make this happen. Am I missing something?

I lost the passenger side roof molding on my 2011 tacoma twice and just happened to notice it hanging off the 4runner after a carwash last week. Must be some cheap tape. Just popped it back in groove and carried on with my day.

The only groove I saw is a half inch clip towards the front. There isn't anything running the length of the channel to hook onto?
