Rotational grinding noise - brand new rear brakes

You and I have had our disagreements in the past over a multitude of topics, but I'm not sure why you are bringing me into this. Did I do something recently to you?

I've been really swamped between work, home remodel, cabinet building, and 4Runner maintenance so I haven't had much down time at work to browse the forums.

If it were me trying to diagnose a customer's vehicle with this problem I would put it on a lift with someone to drive it and duplicate the noise while on the lift where I can pinpoint the noise. It seems to be wheel speed related so I would be thinking drum/shoe/backing plate as a possible culprit.

I just noticed your from BC. I have no clue how much you have to deal with rust, but I have seen problems with rust on axle/hub faces causing wheels/rotors/drums to not seat perfectly causing them to wobble. Might be something worth checking to see if where the axle shaft and drum touch is free of rust/debris buildup. There's also a very slim chance your axle shaft could have bent at the end causing a similar effect, but I would expect that to have made noise prior to drum replacement. Hopefully you can figure it out soon and make sure to let us know the results!

Not much rust at all on this rig luckily but I will add this point to the list.

It's been a while but dropping an update.

The grinding is still there, and I'd say a bit worse even. The issue is it only starts to grind (rotational) after I have been driving around for a while, so the mechanic thinks am crazy. It is 100% the rear brakes.

I drive so infrequently that's why I have not dealt with this more promptly
