The rack for it is bolted to the frame with 6 bolts, I am confident it will stay put. The only down side is you have to pretty much lay on your back to get it out... It's out of view of a casual glance.

Hate to ask again, but when you get a chance I would really appreciate shots of your mounts bolted to the frame. Too efing cold out here right now or I would lower the tire and crawl under there to check things out.

I am going to do this setup for more capacity once I get my rear bumper/tire carrier. Thanks gmercier, I like it.

I'll be following your example and get one of these Universal Mounting Plates. Then a 4 Gallon as well. Looking forward to this when I get my rear bumper in the next few months! :tongue:

being about 3 years after this post... How is this holding up? Are the locks still functional? I am thinking about doing the same thing once I relocate my spare. Only difference being 2 cans instead of one big one...

Mine is doing great. I only mount up the rotopax cans when doing extended trips, like 3-4 times a year. I don't even use my locks as on trips where the extra capacity is necessary as I am normally pretty remote. Plus they are kind of out of site anyway under there.

Just got back from a week trip to SE Utah and boy still really dig this setup. I have one 4-gallon and two 2-gallon that I stack. I prefer the 4 gallon as I usually just run down to about half a tank, then dump in all the rotopax at once. So to me having two 4-gallon would just be simpler to deal with.
