Rough IDEL?

1990 4runner 3.0

When first start up really rough idle and then it dies on me. When i turn on my AC the idle is perfect truck runs great but as soon as i shut off my AC then it dies on me like it sounds like its out of gas and i know its not. Where should i look first to fix this. I am very new at working on cars but i refuse to pay someone else if i can learn myself. so dumb it down for me please lol...thanks for any help i can get.

First off, you have a second generation but we are here to help.

You have low RPM. What is the RPM you see in the RPM meter in the dash?

Have you cleaned the throttle body? you an find how to do it on youtube: here is one

Based on the history (if unknown), I would replace the PCV valve, spark plugs, airfilter, gas filter first. You can do all these by your self. If you need help just ask. buy these parts from the dealer as they are not terribly expensive compared to aftermarket parts.

As a temporary remedy, you can increase the RPM simply by turning the throttle stop bolt located on the throttle body (you can google this)

sorry i didnt even realize the 2nd gen thing...and thanks alot all of that i have done with the exception of the throttle body and fuel filter.....thanks again
