RPM Fab WARNING!!

Heads up. RPM Fab (offroad armor) has closed shop. They issued emails to everyone who had orders telling them they would not fill their orders and would not be issuing refunds. They closed shop Wednesday after they went to the Overland Expo and *may have taken orders, and even posted post expo sales on their website before the site went dark. If you happen to have made an order or know someone who has do youself a farvor and contact your credit card company asap or contact the AZ attorney general office if you paid cash. The owner apparently owes around $50,000 in unpaid taxes (public record). Remember Pelfrybuilt fiasco?

Was so going to pull the trigger on one of there front bumper thanks for the post makes me skeptical of ordering one now from any company that doesn't have them ready..

I can't believe it happened again! This is why you just don't buy parts like this unless they are ready to ship. I've heard of too many people getting burned by these pop-up parts companies.

They had been around a while actually. From what I understand most of these Fab shops require you pay full amount up front for something they DONT have ready to ship. The only place I know of that does a partial deposit is AT Trailer.

Unfortunately, that's not always possible in this micro-industry. These are fabricated parts by relatively small volume manufacturers - they aren't going to have a 1K bumper sitting around waiting for you, in most cases.

It's not Amazon, after all.

eimkeith, that would be good business for both till vendor had bumper ready to ship then customer poor mouths doesn't have money till next month. Have had that happen myself dealing with the public in person with work I've performed.

1/2 deposit would be entirely reasonable.

I’m looking at this high clearance rear bumper that requires a BL and pinch weld delete very closely [emoji6].

It would be more reassuring if deposits were more commonplace.

the deposit could be non refundable and part of a contract that protects the manufacturer and purchaser. the remaining amount is due when buyer is notified item is “ready to ship” and must be completed in a certain time so the manufacturer isn’t stuck with a loss. If someone flakes out they lose their deposit and bumper becomes sales stock inventory. Also if it was me I would ONLY ship to hubs for pick up. Too many people abuse the “commercial address” requirements. Just an idea. Of course this would have to be written up in legalease and the customer would have to click to confirm the agreement.

I had to learn the hard way....My family used to own SuperCard (was a programming language for Apple back in the day). Doing business with colleges tanked us cause they paid when they felt like it...

Agreed. Plenty of companies that do high quality work with this model as well. Shrockworks comes to mind, 6+ months wait at times.

Nothing new from these people. This was like the 3rd or 4th time they changed names. They always say "totally a new company, we just bought the designs from the last company"...

There are dozens of posts and articles on these people. The issue I see is that people just don't do the research before forking over thousands to random companies.

I feel bad for the people that were taken advantage of.

They've had the same name since 2013 when Don (owner) of Rycroft Enterprises purchased the company. You can find posts back to 2013 where that name was used, and when they were strictly selling Jeep parts. Maybe you're thinking of the previously owners who changed the name 4 times in under 2 years, and filed for bankruptcy twice under 2 different names?

Rycroft Enterprises was comprised of more than just RPMfab, and all the company's have closed their doors. That's what happens when you don't pay your taxes for 5 years.

Make sure to get your facts straight before posting misleading information. There's a lot of speculation going around about this company, and not one of us have any solid facts besides an email from them, and public information released by the state of Arizona. The simple fact is they could have kept running the business just like they had if the government wouldn't have shut them down. They could have fulfilled orders like they promised. They could have been honest to their customers. See, it's all speculation.

***Actually facts though, it appears BAMF might try to swoop in on this too.***

Edited: AGAIN, Emailed the company to see if RPM fab was what was purchased.......for clarification purposes..... cause no one really knows.

RPM FAB “has been purchased”....by RPM Motorsports.... Take that how you will. Home

in all honesty it does sorta suck cause I really liked the rear bumper and have been saving up to make a cash purchase (we don’t do credit cause Dave Ramsey said). I also liked their front bumper, plus the whole support your local business thing. I don’t know what is going on with RPM Motorsports buying it, what that means for people who dropped thousands and received nothing or the people who got screwed at the expo.

IDK, kinda creepy to me.

My post was directed towards the post I quoted, and has nothing to do with what you quoted in addition.

Public tax information from the state of Arizona shows ownership of RPMfab to be Rycroft Enterprises. Also shows them owning Rycroft Steering, and a tinting company.

The RPM mentioned above is a high speed performance shop that specializes in exhaust, and turbos. Also, the owner of that company is some dude named Martin.

Man, forums will completely trash a company with zero involvement in the issue at hand.

I emailed RPM Motorsports to ask if they bought ownership of RPM Fab and if they planned on continuing operation of the off-road products. Have not received a response yet. Being from AZ and being a member of a 4runner club here with people who paid and lost their money I kind of have a little different insight as do a lot of AZ people. Nothing wrong with “bashing” if it’s done with facts. How would you feel if you bought a $2700 rear bumper to later get a letter saying you won’t be getting your purchase or your money?

(Note to self: use unique name when starting new company.)
