RRO Supersliders vs OPOR Sliders

I'm having a tough time deciding on which sliders mount on my 2014 SR5P 4. I have the 2014 SR5 / Trail Trim so I'll get the Trail version of the sliders.
I'm immersed in this first world problem. SUV is currently stock, have plans for 2.0-2.5" lift and some wheels and tires once I put more ware on the stock components.

Has anyone had experience with both Rocky Road Outfitters Super Sliders and the OPOR Sliders.

My Vehicle application is:
SUV currently has 10K miles, Hoping to own this for 10+ years / 200K miles.
Hoping to own it long enough to teach my son how to drive in it (8Y.O).

80% asphalt , the other 20% is dirt road BLM encountering some nasty rutts, and occasional mud pit, not intentionally looking to rock climb unless it on the way to a campsite or isolated spot I would like to get to.

I like a low-pro/clean look and a little step would be nice for my 7 year old and wife to get in but I don't need the sliders to scream "LOOK AT ME , I can go over a rock!"
The price difference is about $75 to my door and that includes powder coating and using the OPOR GB that is ending on the 8/14th.

I just want to buy once cry once so durability is a factor.

So anyone do a side by side comparison between these 2? In your opinion what would you get? If i can't decide I'll get a OPOR for the passenger side and a RRO for the drivers side.

If you're not using sliders for exactly what they're intended for then you're pretty much getting them for looks lets be honest. Rutts and mud pits don't need the use of sliders. Some Rutts are worse than others and yes there could very well be large rocks hidden in those rutts but the likelihood of you using the sliders to pivot off of a rock in a worn out rutt is less than 1%. Any slider is going to be better than OEM side steps so in your case I would just go with something like N-Fab that has a nice step on it and offers some side protection.

I have had my OPOR Sliders on for about 1 year, and am very impressed by the fit and finish. They have a very subtle and clean look to them, and look like they was designed to be on the vehicle from the factory.

The rear step works really well, and my 4 yr old has no problems getting in and out using it. The front steps don't stick out much, but are usable for those who would need to use them to get into the 4runner, and for those who don't need to use them, like me, they don't stick out so far that you can't step out over them.

The guys at metal tech are great, and when they have a sale, you can get amazing deals on the OPOR sliders. I got mine for $450, which included the powder coat!

A few of us looked at the mounting point side by side between OPOR and Shrockworks..... the Shrockworks is superior....

I haven't looked into detailed comparison on pricing..... but if the cost is similar, I will do Shrockworks again and again.....

I haven't looked into detailed comparison on pricing..... but if the cost is similar, I will do Shrockworks again and again.....

The OPOR (that I had inspected, yesterday) only mounts to the frame in the vertical plane.

The Shrockworks square legs/tubes that go from the slider to the mounting points are also beefer than the OPOR (that I had inspected, yesterday).

The cons for SW is that there is a LONG wait. So, if you want a slider, place your order and WAIT!

I too don't plan to be off-road as much as I will be on the road. I agree with [MENTION=6047]Range[/MENTION] most of us will only need rocker protection for most of the obstacles we will encounter.

Because I have a LE I went with the following criteria
1. Reputable name
2. What would fit my LE with XREAS
3. Looks

I went with the OPORs partly because of the group buy that is noted above but also because I like the extra foot area for the rear (for my son and his grandma).

For you, if #1 and #2 are similar, go for what looks good to you.

That group buy is a really good deal though

Personally I would recommend the BAMF sliders. In the new bolt-on version for the 5th Gen the plate hugs the whole side and bottom of the frame.

Without kickout there is a 1.5" taper going to the back.
The full tread plate is a relatively inexpensive add on.
The basic weld on version starts at $290.

Hey jicko, my sliders are the non-OPOR style from metal tech. Not sure if there is a difference with OPOR's mounting points, just a heads up
