"Rubbing" sound... But not rubbing?

So for the past few weeks I have been hearing a noise in the front driver's side wheel well area when going over bumps, or while taking hard corners at around 35ish mph. It sounds like the tire is rubbing on the black plastic fender liner... But it's not.

At first I thought it was an issue with my new coilovers as it seemed to only happen when going over bigger bumps (speed bumps and the like) but every now and then it will happen when just driving down the road, when the suspension is not cycling.

Trouble shooting I have done...

-Gotten an alignment and moved the caster more negative.

-Another alignment and moved the caster even MORE negative

-Removed tire/wheel and poked, prodded, shook, and just molested every component of the front suspension... It seems fine. I did find a rather sizeable rock on my frame rail, but it, unfortunately, was not the culprit =D

-Trimmed some more of the fender liner to be absolutely positive nothing was touching

-Replaced fender liner clip/rivet things to be sure it wasn't just moving around making noise

I am kinda at a loss here, not sure where to go next. Considering swapping coilovers left to right, but with the reservoirs it's not exactly easy... Trying to avoid this. This will, however, make it very clear if it's a coilover issue.

What was done to the rig before the sound started? I had this issue and its the pinch weld. I still hit this sometimes but after hammering and cutting doesnt happen on the road anymore.

Just remember you cant say its rubbing when driving then say its NOT RUBBING. Its easy to tell if its tire rubbing or something else from the sound of it. Also rubbing will show on the tire and in the fender. Should be nice and clean where its rubbing.

Kind of a shot in the dark without actually hearing or seeing the issue.

Maybe I wasn't clear... It SOUNDS like it is rubbing, but it is not rubbing. Ever. Full bump, full droop, steering from bump to bump, I have clearance.

I THINK the sound started after installing my new coilovers, however, I cannot be sure... It could just be that I was being hyper sensitive after the install and noticed it since I was actively listening for issues.

But like I said- it does it sometimes if I just BARELY touch the throttle from a stop... Like moving forward in the drive thru of Starbucks to get a delicious pumpkin spice latte.

Yeah... It's pouring rain here or I'd set up the tripod and take a video as I go over a speed bump.

Maybe I can get one from in the cabin... I'll try that while I am out and about today.

I guess that's POSSIBLE, but I'd say that it's very, very highly unlikely. They're still charged with nitrogen to the proper PSI (had them checked when I recieved them) so I think I can mark that off as not being the culprit.
 
What is the condition of your dust shields, on the CV and rotor? If it sounds like it's rubbing I would be inclined to think it's rubbing, just not in an obvious spot.
 
Rubbinbut not rubbing !! Is there something in between the rotor and that metal splash guard ? It must something catching when the wheel is turning ! Have ya jacked it up and spun the wheel ?

All are good... I cannot replicate the sound while stationary, so I kinda ruled these out. I have jacked it up and spun the wheel and there is no noise- everything moves very well.

This was another though I had, but I do not feel any play, whatsoever, when I wiggle the wheel around. Wheel bearings were done less than 6 months ago, so that'd be a pity.

I have, and cannot replicate the sound, so I ruled that out.
 
Check the rotor surface, inner and outer, you may have a small stone chip in there that has imbedded itself into the pad ! However spinning the wheel, you would hear it probably ! Worth a look.
 
I thought it might be the brake dust shield at first but that is distinctly a metallic sound. I would check around the cv axles to make sure nothing is rubbing on them as they are the only rotating mass up front other than the wheel
 
Try this....

Turn the wheel full lock left,
Jack up driver front side... Not arm
At full l9ck and full droop,
Spin the wheel.

I had this, with stock tires and freaked me out. Turns out to be the cv's
