Rubicon Nov 9-10

Ran the Rubicon with a couple of guys from TTORA over the long weekend. Thought I'd share some photos. We entered at the Loon Lake side and came out at Ellis Peak.

There was hardly anyone out there which we were surprised since it was a 3 day weekend. We saw about 3 other groups and a group of guys on dirt bikes. We practically had the trail to ourselves.

honestly that is the best way with the con... sometimes there can be so many people up there that is not even worth going. the best times i have had on the con or any where for that matter is when its just been small groups and you feel like you are all alone. there is no presure to get through an object, you can take your time, you can stop when ever, where ever, for what ever...

how did those bighorns do? i really liked mine, and im thinking of going back to them this time in a 305 flavor

I totally agree, it was totally relaxing and no pressure to hurry at all. We stopped several times to take poser flex shots.

As for the Bighorns, I was very impressed, I ran them at about 8lbs and they flattened out really well. They held up really well considering the abuse running them that low on those rocks puts them through. I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again.

I'm thinking of adding LBJs and UBJs to my spare parts too. Of course cvs are a no brainier but seeing what the Rubicon did, I'm for sure rethinking my spare parts list.

Besides the obvious tires, suspension, and protection, what else are you running on your rig, front locker?

Thanks, I was the only 3rd gen and the only IFS out there that weekend. A big group of jeepers and a group of sas Yota trail rigs was all I saw.

I have dual ARBs but i only used the front a couple if times. It's more about choosing the right line. And there was some rock stacking too. 33" tires get pretty small out there real quick. My armor got a real good workout.

I have been on a few different runs up there and I have seen 96 jeep grand cherokees on 31's trying to go across with no armor and went home damn near totaled, body damage all around, rock sliders are a must for the rubicon. I have seen bone stock 4 door jeep unlimited on the rubicon and they got across no problems, that was after a jeepers jamboree (lots of rock stacking) I wouldn't recommend it and it wouldnt be very fun, but it could be attempted.

Totally agree with this statement. As for the jeeps and the jamboree... I hear they have 'professional' rock stackers at each obstacle.

Stock with no armor on 31's? I barely made it through with 33's and had to do some rock stacking myself. Not to mention I tagged every single piece of my armor on that trail.

Like unlimitedfj4 said.. you could attempt it but it wouldn't be very fun or you would be running all the bypass trails and what's the point of that?

Thanks for the feedback. Reason I ask is because my buddy has a jeep rig and I just wanna be able to go along with him. I wouldn't mind the bypasses. But I would mind body damage.

Even though it's been blasted etc and most think it's a highway now.. I would't consider running it stock. At MCR I saw an IFS 2nd gen runner and his truck was beat to hell when he got to the springs. No idea if he broke anything, I'm sure he did. He was also on 33's. If you decided to run it, I'd put full skids on, a winch, and at least a rear locker. You're gonna get hung up with clearance issues and lots of body damage, even with taking bypasses.

I'd just ride shotgun with your friend, much easier! :cheers:
