Runn4est's Projects Thread

Finally got the front end converted! I got a bumper from a fellow member which was great. It looks so much better now. It's crazy how much lower the LE bumper hung. There's probably a 5 inch difference. Overall it was a pretty straightforward swap. I had to butcher the fender liners, but it works for now. Maybe I'll get the right liners at some point.

I did keep the parking sensors too. They seemed to work just fine with my placement. In decided to do it 13.5 inches down from the point where the bumper angles upward for the narrowing of the headlight.

Unfortunately, I overbought on dealer parts because I didn't remember what the bumper came with when it was at my in laws garage... If anyone is interested I have a lower cover and stopper.

I did some undercarriage clean up this weekend after I changed the oil. Holy cow there was probably 5 pounds of dried dirt caked on the front skids. I also took the time to clean up the rust on my fuel skid and then coated everything underneath with a good thick spray of fluid film.

When I first started contemplating off roading and what mods to get, several people mentioned replacing the half skid on the LE fuel tank. I'm now a believer that that should be any LEs first mod or at least before you go out wheeling.

I heard a ping or two in the few outings we had but didn't realize it saw this much attention! Thank you RCI for a solid product!

I touched it up with a wire brush, rust converter then hit it with Eastwood extreme frame paint. We'll see how long it stays pretty :)

Ha! Yeah, when I pulled my stock skids to install my full RCI aluminum set I'm sure I shaved about 20# of weight off. I had already beat the front mesh in so there was nothing to block dirt and mud. Even after trying to clean it with the pressure washer it was still full, as was the fuel tank skid.
