Running board lights

My driver side running board lights aren't working, and I seem to have found the problem...a section of the white wire insulation and the wire itself seems to have corroded away.

What would be the best course of action to fix this?

if you done mind me adding to this, is it possible to add the lights to stock sr5 running boards?

btw, I would just cut back the loom, rewire as far as you deem necessary, trap/splice/solder (whatever your choice), shrink wrap, reloom, plug in. just a little tedious but should be fine when done.

I'm wondering if the white connector comes apart, or do I need to replace it?

Do your stock running boards have a place for the light to go? My running boards have the wiring going into the middle of the board, internally splitting off to power the bulbs on either end.

Well, the connection is screwed so you won't loose anything by cutting the wires and see if you can open the white connector. I checked on a few OEM toyota parts catalogs, but it seems its part of some body harness (not sold separately). Looks like an easy enough solder job. Obviously be sure tape it up good afterwards. This same problem happened to me last year so your in luck! The parts all in were like $4.70 for the connector and $11.70 for the splice kit each. Considering where you live it should be cheaper for you to get the parts from your dealer.

Toyota part numbers:
The connector is 90980-11075 (truck side of things)
Wire splice to fit into connector is 82998-12440 (about 6 inches of wire on the water proof end you push into connector)
*If you need a new connector (mine broke when taking apart keep in mind you may need two Toyota spice kits (one for each wire in the socket), I was able to reuse the good wire in the new connector.

They are a pain to look up! Took Toyota two tries and I gave them the page in the service manual, but once I had the right parts in my hand I wrote the numbers down. I live in northern Canada and the solution I have found it it use larger wireloom and extend over connector (but not to tight so it won't drian).

Yeah, I was figuring I'd probably have to get a new connector. I should probably X2 when the other side goes out.

Just remember more loom! If you can avoid the rocks hitting the wire it won't go out on you. Mine was cut clean right close to the connector!

Good idea...I think I have some left over from another project that might fit.
