OEM Running Boards...

I called a Toyota dealer & was told that they have 2 kinds of running boards. One is from a company being distributed by Southeast Toyota & the other one is from Toyota & are Different. O.E.M. ones are selling at your local Toyota dealers for $540 plus tax and installation! That's too much considering that it should have been standard. Anyway if anyone has the OEM ones installed PLEASE post a good picture. This is the only one I have.

Wtf? Help!!!!!

Can anyone please tell me if the Southeast running boards are the same exact ones offered by the (OEM) Toyota parts? It seems that no one in Chicago has a set of the PT 925-89100 Oem boards for me to compare!:wtf:

2010 Toyota 4runner running boards

I bought the car in Feb. and prepaid for running boards specifying side step capability. Finally got a positive reply at end of Aug when I called the dealer. They installed the boards and there is only about 3 inches of foot space! The dealer's part guy tells me this is how Toyota designs them. The older 4runners certainly had more space and note there is NO space between the bottom of the body of the car and the running board. They aren't at all functional. Turns out there is a bracket with another brackets bolted on to the first bracket presumably to at least get that 3 inches. I am researching other options to get safe running boards - hoping I can get my money back if I go elsewhere - dealer says plenty of "other" running boards but they aren't Toyota made and therefore shabby work. Comments would be welcome!

SE running boards

I just installed about 2 months ago the running boards from the SE region....Sparks sells them for $280 plus about $25 to ship to Northeast. Put them on in an hour max. They look great and much cheaper than the $650 I was quoted for boards purchased and installed by dealer. I also called everyone including Toyota to see if they were OEM. They told me that if sold by a Toyota dealer as a Toyota part, then they are covered if any issues. I am totally happy with these running boards.

Running Boards - Buyer Beware

I paid $408 for my OEM Running Boards PT925-89100. Not a bad price, but still expensive since the dealer's cost is $340.

I installed them myself, no problem.

BUT! There is no room for toes so less than half of my size 8 feet actually fit on the step. It's actually very difficult to actually "stand" on the running boards, let alone use them as a step to get in the car. They look good, but they are not functional. My wife has bad knees and has some difficulty getting into the car, which is why I forked the money out for these accessories.

You will also lose about 2 1/2 to 3 inches in clearance.

If anything, it makes it MORE difficult and possibly dangerous. Our feet actually slip off if we're not careful. Needless to say, they're going back.

Toyota should have done more testing and fitting before putting these on the market.

Pros:
-They look nice, but not "great".
-Easy to install.

Cons:
-Expensive - For the price, they should look awesome, but they don't.
-Significant loss of ground clearance.
-Marginally functional or completely Non-functional as a step. (Either to get into vehicle or to access cargo rack)
-Potential for slippage and/or injury if used as a step.

FYI Trail running boards on ebay

FYI to anyone looking for Trail Running boards.... while I was searching for a pic of the Southeast Toyota Running boards on ebay motors, I found trail ones. I dont know if they have been available in the states, but the pic seems to be from a Canada source.... No affiliation, just telling the people who wanted to get a set but didnt search recently.

N-Fab Wheel to Wheel side steps (Nerf Bars)

Does any one know where I can get a set of side steps like N-Fab makes
( part # T1064R) for a 2010 Toyota 4Runner SR5? On their website they say that they only fit the TE model. Even if it's another company, I like the look of almost looking like a rock slider but having 2 drop down steps that are also made of round bar. Below is the site.

I wish! I have tried to contact them a number of times to see if they will custom make them for an SR5, obviously they have the dimensions as the one in all their photos is an SR5, but have never got a response. There are a number of us who like that set up but have not found anything close yet. My Rocky Road SuperSliders will be here Tuesday and my local welder and I are going to sit down and brainstorm up 'removable' steps and look similar to the N-Fab set up that will attach to the new sliders. That way I get the best of both worlds, easy step in on a daily basis but quick removal for the trails should I need it.

What brand are those running board? Where did to you get them? What exactly the "SE" 4Runner? I have a 2010 Blizzard Pearl with mud flaps looking for running boards.Thanks for your help.

I purchased the N-Fabs for my TE and couldn't be happier with them. That being said, I just drove through my local dealership, and a TE was sitting there with the new TE version sidesteps. I gotta say, they looked really sharp, and had they been an option two months ago for me, I might have purchased them instead of N-Fabs.

I just ordered the running boards from Toyota for my Limited Edition that I will pick up this Saturday. I can't remember how much I paid but it was around 600 dollars. Now I am reading here that they aren't that great. My mom has bad knees and she has no problem getting into my 04 Limited, any suggestions for the new '11 LE?

I really need some help with this one. I bought the SE Edition for 2011 SR5 4Runner from Ebay for my dad. He took delivery and for some reason, he says that he is unable to install it. Now before I make my 100 mile trek to his house and help him out, can anyone give me some pointers? He has all the tools you can ever imagine so that won't be an issue. It is something you can install by yourself? He is saying that he has to take apart a lot of "things" so I told him to stop. Any help would be much appreciated.

I bought the SE edition for my 2010 SR5 and installed without any issues. You have to remove 3 brackets from each side and install new supplied brackets for each with the supplied slightly longer bolts. Hope that helps.

I don't think the brackets allow enough outward adjustment. I have them on my 2010 SR5 and get slightly more than a toe-hold.

I just purchased a 2023 T4R Limited Dark Metallic Gray, the running boards need to be pull out another 3"-5" to be comfortable to step on with my 10.5 Skechers.
I'm looking either for a way to do this, or a good replacement running board that will accomplish this.

Got the RCI sliders with the 20 degree angle. Not great as a step but they do offer the 5 degree which is probably what people would consider a better step.
