Running boards..... Your opinion

If you live in the north, leave them on. The road salt will wreck your rocker panels really quick. The running boards shield them. I wheel my 4runner, and have had zero issue with my running boards snagging.

And running boards protect from gravel. We have a lot of that here.

There are a couple runners in my area without boards and the rockers and door lowers are covered in rock chips. Very ugly, think sandblasted.

I think if you do see much gravel driving invest in really good mud flaps on the front.

Yeah, was pretty sure he life of the rocker panel is gonna be shortened as well as the gravel taking its toll.

I had two reasons behind removing mine: I wanted to see how it looked without them and the passenger side running board was bent down a bit in the middle (I will get around to fixing it eventually so I have the option to put the boards back on if I want). Sorry, the angles aren't exactly even for comparison reasons, but they are the closest I have.

I removed mine because doing stuff like this would have most likely damaged them.

I read about one member selling theirs on eBay for like $400 but it seems like sometimes you can't even give 'em away. One could easily fund sliders for $400 if that was the case.

Mine never had 'em so it came with the mud guards in place and I definitely prefer the look but the shorter women in my life always comment it's a bit of a jump into the truck but that's what the handle on the A pillar is for.

Those are the SR5 skinny black flares (Almost impossible if not impossible to find the mudguards for this flares), the ones you have are the SR5 wide flares/ Sport Flares
you need the Highland Contura splash guards (model 11051, style G) for your sport flares.

Me: "I never need them, they're pretty much useless. Look nice on a minivan though".

Off topic: Putting the Sequoia up for sale this week. 2001 SR5, 188K, body in good shape, engine bullet proof, new frame last month. Black/Grey exterior, beige cloth interior, normal wear and tear for age. Gonna post it for $5900. To much? Thoughts

Sounds like justification for some wide sliders. :eyebrows:

No problem, you will need to do some minor trimming to the mudguards to fit.

I would leave them off. Those aren't the sliders that were originally on it. The ones that were stock were painted to match and look quite good with the painted flares.
