I was doing just regular maintenance taking stuff apart and replacing cause of old age and all 4 of the lower valve covers bolts had snapped off and this is not a problem you want to have. Ive tried everything I had at my garage, didnt work got it towed to local shop, they heated, welded, lubricated, everything to try and get those things out. Now have to raise engine to fit drill in enough to tap the threads. If you have a rusty old 200,000 miles plus 4runner I do not recommend taking this off unless dire need. My gaskets we fine and the tube seals looked great. 05 V8 220000 miles SC Vehicle

curious why you wanted/needed to remove the valve cover? was it leaking?
Needed to get to the intake manifold, made a lot more space and kit for manifold came with them so I considered why not
