SOOOO......
I bedlined the Runner. Just like the other guy did. But, mine's a little different. I didn't spray my truck. That's right, I ROLLED it. I think it looks damn good too. Obviously, I need to do a little more work to the truck, have some other ideas that I'm going to apply to the truck as well.
I know I say that I'm going to do it, but be patient with me. I'm going through a pretty rough time with the wife's pregnancy. I really only have the night to do anything, and that doesn't work so well when you've got to be at work at 0darkthirty. SO, please, just be patient. I'll update this, or my build thread, when I have the time and ability to do so.
So, with that said, onto the write up.
Basically, all I wanted to do was to get that crappy freaking Rubberized Undercoat off the truck. It just looked like sh!t, and was coming off, rubbing off when I went wheeling, and all sorts of crap. My plan was to just do the area where the flares were, but after I saw how it looked, I decided to do the whole truck. Pretty damn spur of the moment.
This is what made me decide to do the whole truck:
I've been tossing around the idea of doing a WWII type camo scheme on the truck, kinda like this:
or just doing it in a satin black. Well, the cammo idea is still there, but I went with Satin black for right now.
I used Rustoleum's Bedliner, and the applicator kit. These:
The applicator kit comes with a brush, roller, and a scuff pad. The directions on the kit were decent, but I also googled the process, and found a little more detail on it.
The hardest part was to do the prep. I started off just doing the bottom, and in order to get the truck prepped. At first, I used some Rustoleum Aircraft Remover to get the rubberized undercoat off. I know, I know, those of you that know what that is are thinking WTF?!?!?! Trust me. I was careful, and got a DROP on one spot of the passenger side fender. Got it off quickly enough that it didn't do any damage.
Once I cleaned the undercoat off, I used some Rustoleum Wax and Tar remover to clean the metal.
Using the scuff pad that came in the application kit, I then went over the area, and used the Wax and Tar remover to clean it again.
Masking the area off was a bit tedious, but it didn't take too long. After that, it was time to roll on the bed liner.
After one coat, you need to wait two hours to apply a second coat. The above picture is after two coats.
Prepping the rest of the truck was the biggest pain in the ass. I started at 8PM, and didn't finish the second coat until 430AM. You have to go over the ENTIRE truck with the Wax and Tar Remover, then scuff it, then clean it with the Wax and Tar remover again.
I removed ALL the rubber around the windows and doors, rolled the windows down, and masked the areas off so nothing would get Bedliner on it that shouldn't. I think that was the most time consuming part of the whole job.
After One coat off Bedliner, I had to wait two hours to put the second on. Here's what it looked like at the end of the second coat.
The second coat didn't take too well. I think it was because of the temperature in my garage. I had it cracked so that I didn't get high..
Woke up the next morning, and [MENTION=59542]Singtoe[/MENTION] was on his way to J-vegas to go to the beach and see one of his friends down here. SO, I added another coat to it. After three coats all over the truck, I still have some left over. Actually, probably enough to do a fourth coat on the truck.

I need to do my Half Doors still, but I think she came out pretty damn well.
I'm working on my own Grille Mod, so that grille isn't going to be on there that much longer. I didn't paint the area's under the lights, because when I build my bumpers, its going to sit under directly under the lights.
Lessons Learned:
1) The kit says that the roller and brush are solvent RESISTANT. RESISTANT IS NOT PROOF!!! If you're going to do this, get two application kits. Either that, or get some other rollers, if you want a smooth finish.
2) A disk sander would make this job a HELL of a lot easier. put some 300 grit on the sander, and take it to the truck. All you need to do is rough up the paint.
3) GET LOTS OF 100% ACETONE!!! Paint thinner DOES NOT work to clean the brush or the roller. Hence why I say to get another kit, or some other rollers.
4) Get a metal paint tray. While the plastic one that came in the kit is good, the Acetone eventually destroys it.
5) Get two-three rolls of automotive masking tape. If you can get some of the stuff that has the plastic on it to get under window seals, that would probably work really well.
Now, like I said, I'm not done yet. I need to touch up some areas that came off when I took the masking tape off. around the back windows, and the door handles.
The bumper isn't lined because there's no point doing it, because I'm going to build my own.
I'm also working on the emblems. I haven't decided if I'm going to paint the "Limited", "4Runner", and "Toyota" emblems straight onto the truck, or if I'm going to use the actual emblems onto the truck. Also toying with the idea of colors, and some other stuff.
You'll see what I have in mind later.
