forgive my ignorance, but what are the benefits of installing spindles? ive seen them on some rigs, but never knew what they were used for...

if you take a look at the picture below, you can see that the coil overs are pretty much cranked all the way, which provided all of the lift for me. (about 3")

With the coil overs maxed out, i would get little to no down travel. but by installing spindles, i am able to adjust the coil over back up (decreasing the ride height) and utilize a lot more down travel while still maintaining the lift that i want. So basically what i did was i adjusted the coil over so i got 0"-1" of lift, then i installed the spindle which brought it back up to 4"-5" in the front. i hope this makes sense haha

Different and I like it. Curious what if any functionality is gained by this mod? or is it strictly for cosmetics? approach angle changed? winch ready? battering ram approved? haha

it helps protect the lower A-arms mounts if i hit the ground hard and also serves as a nice battering ram too lol.
i was thinking about going with a full pre runner bumper but i didn't like how it showed all of the ugly stuff underneath. I like the way it retains the factory bumper. keeps it OEM looking. very sleek

Not everyone wants a winch ready "rig".

Very clean Ryan, always loved that style of bumper.

I'm with ya, I see no point for massive steel bumpers. I figure if I'm somewhere a winch may be needed, I definitely won't be there by myself. I'll let someone else buy the 1200 bumper and 1000 winch to pull me out and I'll put that money in my retirement :bravo:

Any detailed pics of the bumper? Or install, perhaps?

ya its complete bolt on that goes on the existing bolts. i also had to cut off the lower crossmember below the radiator. the one that has the tow hooks attached to. here are some of Happysmileys pics when he built it

This thread gives me <s>wood</s> positive thoughts for what I can do with my 2WD.

If there isn't one already, we should start a 2WD Club thread.
