guess ill just add to this as i go. trying to decide on a lift at the moment.
have it narrowed down to toytec ultimate 3" or the 3" with bilstein 5100s height adjustable coilovers, but not sure what the difference is for 300$. can anyone tell me?

Adjustability without removing the shocks. That and a slightly firmer spring than stock.

played with some powder coating for the first time earlier. did both by shackles and receiver block

No coilovers yet but I picked up a set of 5 new mtr's from a jeep Rubicon .not the size I wanted 255/75r17 but got a good deal and hoping to flip the rims and recover some of my money

got the coilovers on but dont think i have it quite level. sitiing 37" in the rear and 36 1/4" in the front. has anyone been able to adjust your adjustable coilover while on the truck but tires off the ground? when we first installed them we had them set to high and couldnt get them to spin to lower them without using a spring compressor to relieve the pressure. think i want to get it up to 37" front and rear before i go have my alignment done

Do you have toytec ultimate or just the bilsteins? The toytec have spanner wrenches and adjust they way you'd want and the bilstiens by themselves only have three preset adjustments where you'd have to use the spring compressor and you will have to choose between slight rake or go for a slight reverse rake.

Toytec coilovers. And could not spin the adjustable part while the spring was under load. Even using a long ratchet in the spot on the spanner wrench. And just to be sure the adjustable coller is what sits over the clip that's on the bilsteins correct?

hmm. I don't remember and don't have my truck at my house right now to check. Maybe someone else can chime in or I'd suggest you call Toytec. Doesn't sound right. I was able to raise and lower mine no problem last time I needed to.
