Nah, I'm just worried about washing before wheeling. I dunno about your rig but the dirt on mine is probably structural at this point. imp:

I'm quite sure that dirt keeps my real main seal from leaking more than it does. I'm sure there is dirt in my under carriage that has been there for 21 years. I like to keep it pretty on the outside.

Monday.........sucked! CV axle inspection and cleaning turned in to left side CV axle replacement. I have to ask, is there a trick I am missing? I got it done,but man that thing was a pain to get out.

the studs and nuts that connect the inside to the diff were severely fuzed. Maybe I just need air tools. Tried to seperate the whole assembly from the upper and lower ball joints, but those are fuzed as well. One way or another, I managed and it is back in.

Ball joints are moving up the priority list.

Tomorrow is fairly simpleI hope. All I have to do is take things off and do a little painting experiment.

Oh man, please tell me you hammered out those studs on the axle shaft and replaced them with bolts? It makes replacing the CV a piece of cake.

I'm under the impression that all toyota factory builders are left handed contortionists! Got the AC parts out!

Pulled the front bumper in prep for the new bumper going on tomorrow.

Pulled the grill and started the first coat of black rubberized paint. Gonna pull the crappy looking crome trim and do the same. Also going to paint the spare tire rack to match.

I'll have some pics up tonight.

Being a helicopter mechanic for a few years, trust me! I understand! I think that the guys at boeing are the exact same way!

Prep work for bumper.

Install LED lights

Diff pulled out.

Install new Yukon Grizzly locker.

Scotty just happened to have these laying around! Gonna clean them up and have them installed this weekend.

All done! I'll be painting tomorrow.

Will be going back to AOR in March for sliders and rear bumper. Scotty and the crew are great and I love the look of the new bumper.

Very nice! If I don't end up building my bumpers I will end up getting some from them. They have some good looking bumpers at a decent price. Well done! Now you need to get a winch to put on that bumper!

Hopefully the winch will be on by the end of March. Doing this piece by piece. Thankfully I have nothing left to do with the engine!

How many mounting holes are there? Did you guys plate the front of your frame or anything?

That bumper really changes the look of the truck! :driving:

There are six mounting bolts. If you want I can post pics, but give scott a call for more details. They welded on a support/reinforcement plate. That was welded directly to the front crossmember. Then it just bolts in.

Combo of the bumper and the black grill changed everything. I'm doing some more paint tomorrow. Just wait! Eventually, all the chrome will be black. Chrome does not age well.

Thats mainly what I was looking for! That plate is MUST if you really plan on (ab)using the bumper. :thumb3:

Today is cleaning and paint day! Have to go pick up some stuff then I will spend the day taping and cleaning. Going to clean and paint the Aisin hubs. Going to paint the new bumper. Painting the spare tire carrier to match. I may paint the rear bumper to match the grill even though it is not long for this world. Hopefully today sees the end of all chrome on the runner.

Painted the bumper. Rustoleum Hammered Black

Painted my Aisin Hubs

Installed Aisin hubs.

Prepped and painted lower 1/4 with Duplicolor Bed Armour (for now).

Put out some ads for Addicted Offroad.

Stood back and admired.

That's pretty much it for now. I will get sliders and rear bumper installed next month.

You're making me envious, FoG! The truck's really coming around--looks great! I see you did what I recently thought about doing, adding the liner coating on the lower portion of the body. I like how it looks--I think I'll probably be doing that this year, at least on the bruiser (might leave the stock one looking stock). Any idea on the winch you're getting?
