Looking good! Next time when you mask for the liner on the lower 1/4 of the body, mask over where you intend on coating. Then use a razor blade to cut away at the masking tape. Doing this you can get nice rounded edges around your fenders.

I really like the way it finishes, BUT...... Pull the tape off before it dries! I have to go back and clean up the edges. You can't tell in the pics,but there is still some work to do.

As for the winch I will probably just get the XRC8.

Thanks for the tip! AS I said I am going to redo the edges. I tried using electrical tape and bending it over the fenders. Fender flares are in the plan someday, but not till I get 33's.

Funny! I tried using electrical tape at first too. It didn't stick very well so I went the other route.

As soon as I got it on I covered it with blue tape to hold it on. The concept worked well. The application needs practice. I am not a painter or body guy.
 
I'm not sure how it would work with the bedliner stuff, but I like using 1/4" masking tape on the corners--it lays down flat even on extreme curves (I did a friend's motorcycle one time, with 3 stripes along the fender edges, then up the center at the front). Might not work on that thick stuff, though.
 
When you apply the electrical tape, use some degreaser or some carb cleaner on a rag to wipe the area down on the paint before you apply it. Then it will stick without an issue. You will even be able to stretch it without it pulling up.

I tried cleaning the area on mine with rubbing alcohol first and the tape still didn't hold. Maybe the cold had something to do with it or I didn't clean it well enough.
 
Not sure if it helped the tape stick, but I did spray the area down with break cleaner ( my favorite chemical) first.
 
Sooooooo......I trashed the paint while wheeling today. $48 in paint and one day of work down the drain. Really it's ok since I was going to redo parts anyway. I probably made some mistakes painting. Live and learn. The Rustoleum Hammered that was on the bumpers held up great.

On another note. I LOVE LOCKERS!!!!!!!!

There was nothing I could not climb. The Jeep in front of me (also locked) got stuck in places that I had no issue and the Jeep behind me (not locked) had to get towed by a Toyota twice!

Waiting for my friends to load their videos.

I'd love to, but first I want to swap to the 3.4. Which won't be until the 3.0 dies or I win the lottery. Based on the 3.0's performance today I am more likely to win the lottery first. It performed great.

If your 3.0 works great then why swap it? I would do a SAS before the motor swap. That's just me though.

Did you ever end up buying that 1st gen you were talking about? I'm assuming not since you haven't posted up more about it.
 
For the kind of driving I'm doing now, SAS isn't necessary. My 3.0 has 240,000 miles on it. I doubt it will last forever, but who knows. If I start breaking CV axles left and right I may reconsider SAS.
