Not really a question or anything, but i've seen a lot of posts about blown engines, cracked head gaskets, and people selling their 4runners recently. Like a lot. Makes me depressed lol

Damn.. I posted on this forum whether I should keep the 4runner or not and it actually got me to keeping it.

Mainly used as a do it all vehicle. I have 5100 shocks, springs, and a set of wheels being prepped for paint.

Put it this way there are more post with people with new to me 4runners than there are people selling.

In my situation. I'd probably get the money I put into it after a year or 2 of driving it.

It is a great vehicle, for me for outdoors stuff and a workhorse.. It just rides sloppy.. So I hope the shocks and springs will fix it.. if it doesn't ill probably sell.

My other 2 cars are too nice to get dinged .. if this dings.. id be ok..

3rd gens aren't getting any younger...

True. Im at 109k though so I guess I haven't hit that stage yet.

And yeah, I heard the safari steering racks are supposed to be very nice though. And there's a thread talking about the AAE one thats similar for 250 bucks.

4Runners are great trucks.

Sometimes parts fail around 200k. Just plan ahead with $1000 reserve cash and you can weather almost any storm. Say you may need $2000 for the storm (new engine) then you will only need to borrow $1k worst case.

I'm starting to wonder how much time I have left with my truck actually, makes me a bit sad. Not that I don't think it'll keep going a LOT longer (she's rust free @ 200k miles), but I am way too active to burn up weekends to do maintenance - especially in the winter! I'm just hoping my recent M.I.A.-coolant issue is a minor thing...

As far as the active goes, I feel ya there. 60 hour work weeks, makes it hard for me to find time to do all my ball joints, tie rods, ect; and fix that damn leak on my transmission.

Well I feel a bit better now, lol. Im hoping to hit 300k on mine.
