I'm interested to see the final product. Too bad they didn't want my '04 lol, only 30 min away or so from their Auburn location

I'm wondering if they are going to make them larger (closer to 5th gen/taco ones), the LC100 ones seem small'ish for the volume of air being moved, so cleaner/cooler air but slightly less air than factory intake. It's been one of the reasons I've been hesitant to do the LC100 retro

So I just checked ARB 4X4 Accessories-USA FB page and it looks like they are doing a fitment test on the V8 2006-2009. But ARB said they were doing a fitment test last year.? Someone did ask ARB about the 2003-2005 and all they said was "Smiley Face".! That's very odd, why not just say yes or no? 10 years later and ARB finally decides to make a snorkel for the 4th Gen hwell:

The smiley face means yes. They specifically say they have an 04 V8 in other replies. They don't say it, but I'd be very surprised if they didn't have the V6 models to verify performance too.
From my understanding, the first prototypes that Safari (not arb) made several years ago didn't look good. They were using a 3rd party contractor for that design and basically had to redo the whole thing. Why they didn't start this sometime between 03-09 we'll never know, but hey, no other company did either...

Guess they didn't specifiy early summer of what year, but you'd think if they were actually doing test fitments that they'd have something ready to release...

Hopefully it'll be the new airmax design that supposedly flows more ait than the stock system.

Just something to keep in mind... In the 'new product design' process, there are many phases. If Safari are currently in the test fitment phase, that means they have design they think will work, but they need to make sure. They will not produce production quantities until they're totally ready. If this current round of testing shows a problem (like last time) then they'll need to make revisions to the design and tooling.
If this current testing goes good, then that will green light the production quantities phase. So, I'm pretty sure Safari still need to do a stock build in Melbourne and ship them to ARB in Seattle. 2-3 months sounds about right.

Or you could all just get some testicular fortitude about yourself, stop listening to ARBs 10 year BS runaround waiting for a $700 piece of $35 dollar ABS plastic... (Yes this thread will never die. Ten years guys. TEN YEARS), and do it yourself like most people who really use their dorkle do. I did it. Install took an hour. 80 series Land cruiser snorkel works perfectly.

Yep. I've seen those lights in action, they are VERY good. But at those prices, there's a snowball's chance in hell they'll be on my ride. Same with their new hydraulic highlift. Again, it's very good but probably only worth half the asking price imo.

those sit above the roofline though, no? id much prefer one designed to sit flush with the roofline. mpg will take enough of a hit with one of these things let alone having it above the roofline.

I didn't do the 80 series because they're dinky, look like ass, stick up too far, and don't line up with the 'A' pillar...its almost like they weren't made for the 4th gen or something.

It's not like I actually need a snorkel. I'll either wait for a manufacturer to build a model specific one that looks right or I'll keep on being happy driving around without one on my mall crawler.

They sit about level with a roof rack. If you're installing a snorkel and worried about fuel mileage. I would rethink doing a snorkel, or any other modifications that you need, well before a snorkel.

I dont think you've seen a properly installed, good quality 80 series snorkel. The fender curvature is nearly identical to the 4th gen, and height is perfect. Hell it sits better than the OEM snorkel Toyota is putting on the TRD pro now.

If you dont need a snorkel why would you drill a hole in your fender? Looks? Cred? It's like fake bead beadlocks or people who wear foakleys. But hey, whatever floats your boat Jim. There are several 80 series installs that look great for people willing to take the time to do it right. I'm sure there are some Jerry rigged ones too.
