Safari snorkel on a 5th gen?

You guys can give me a bunch of hand jobs later for this one. 150 Prado snorkel fitment on the 5th gen

Yep ,I have it here in my hands now but my trucks at the dealership waiting on parts for warranty work.They are changing all the seals on the transfer case and new front wheel bearings and waiting on the TSB transfer case seal kit. Driving a loaner Camry now and I won't be able to get to it for a couple of weeks as I'm working every day thru til the 19th and then the rest of the year off.

After waiting 7 weeks I recieved it Friday before last, however ARB sent me a SS181HF which is for a 3.0L diesel 120 Prado !!:crybaby: I was none too happy as the invoice taped right to the box had SS189HF printed right on it ,and not 6 inches away from the big black letters on the box stating that it was a SS181HF. They were great about it though and super customer service. I called them/ARB last monday morning and they 2 day air mailed me the right one with some other goodies. That came from the Jacksonville warehouse and even Washington called me following up. Jacksonville is their brand new ware house so shit will happen.

The guy in Wa. said they were just over from the mother co. in Australia and fit/took measurements for the 5th Gens but said it could be months before it's an actual product and couldn't give a release date.They have 3 more of these 189's in stock now in Fla. as they said they sell some Prado 150's in S. America and are stocked for them now. I've got one on order last month and it's coming in from Australia as there were none in this country ,being they don't sell Prados over here .

Talked to ARB tech on the phone about these being such a close fit to the Prados and he said that the 5th Gen 4Runners are on the list to get officially fitted for one as some guys were coming over from Australia to do it ,but couldn't give a date.

I can confirm ARB/Safari had couple of their engineers from australia visit the ARB US office in Renton, Washington a little over a month ago specifically to work and gather info and parts for the 5th gen 4R fitted snorkel. I was working with my tech on installing my new CBI rear bumper and he mentioned he met the aussies while picking up ARB parts from the warehouse. That's all I got. Cheers!

Quick update

I just called ARB USA to see if I could pry any more info out of them. And I did! A bit.

Spoke with a really friendly customer service rep who said that plan is for the Aussies will be back in March for a test fitting.

Should things go well at that point, he anticipated that it would be ready for retail sometime this Summer.

So, just a bit more breath holding?

Good news!

Looks like its progressing.
 
Can't decide if I even still want one at this point. After 4 years I've only had a handful of times where I wished I had one. Guess I'll decide when I see the final product.
 
Seem that ARB is really stepping behind the 5th Gen now that the FJ Cruiser is discontinued in the U.S.. I'm really glad I held off on buying a snorkel till now.

In the same vein as the snorkel, I've heard rumblings of a redesigned bumper for the 2014(+) trucks.
