Thank you, SSO for the rear bumper, unfortunately they are currently discontinued. I like 4x4 labs or CBI if I had to choose another

I can't speak for them.
I will tell you that the SSO team definitely has my respect and love their products. With the amount of labor and cost coupled with what the price of the rear bumper was selling for, I imagine that may had something to do with but I'd like to say it'll be back hopefully.
Now back to Snorkeling...
Ordered March 7th from Sierra Expeditions and finally recieved mine Monday; actually had the truck sitting all surgery like for hours before USPS arrived
The instructions couldn't be more clear, they were LEGO level, even a caveman like myself understood the instructions; my wife helped color though(stencil).
No new wind or suction noise.
Honestly the only downfall is that now the ball&chain suggests to switch cars daily.

I took my time on mine showing my son how to do things as we went along. If you have all the stuff you will need at the ready 2-3hrs is plenty of time.

Took me 3 days as several like to poke fun about. Just a warning about starting projects after work, and in my case after putting kids to bed!!!
I'm kid free for a few weeks lol so I won't have any distractions.

Warning on this snorkel if you wheel your rig hard on tight trails.
I wheel my truck very hard on a regular basis in rocky conditions.. but somehow I've always avoided body damage. Last week I was out on a very tight trail that I have run several times. I was in the lead without a spotter. I thought I had cleared everything as usual, but when I got done I walked around the truck and found that my snorkel had scraped a wall and dented in my fender. I never felt or heard anything....
Anyway... the fender is very weak once this thing is installed. There is no bolt holding the upper portion in place (towards the top of the fender near the front), so if you hit something it will dent the fender right there for sure. I really wish they would have added a stud there as it would have made a huge difference the strength of the fender against minor impacts. I found this problem on my first time out with it on. Sure would be a nice revision, but doubt that will happen.
I was able to get a PDR guy to fix the dent and was able to recondition the snorkel to look decent again.... The rattle can bed liner is a pretty good match to the snorkel finish...

wow what a design flaw!! I cant imagine why running into a rock wall would dent a fender...

I see it as a bit of a design flaw personally, but to each his own. Does not take a rocket scientist to figure this out.
If you don't push it hard.. not a problem. It should spread the load across the fender. The lack of an attachment point in that weak area of the fender after it is is cut is a small design flaw in my mind. It will always be the first thing to hit.... And you are going to see a lot of dented fenders.
Seems like real world use would be useful input... but I forgot this is the 5th gen forum where nothing can be improved on....
Some good tape might be a solution worth trying.

It's actually great input...just curious..was that the only way on the trail to were you were headed or was there an alternate route?
You cleaned it up well for what its worth...

I wouldn't call "pushing it" running into a rock-wall on a trail you have completed multiple times, I call that a mistake. Kinda like going on the internet and blaming your error on a design flaw.

Yes, one way in... one way out.. It's an old creek-bed... It probably happened in a spot like this... The trail has about 20 tight off camber squeeze spots. Not that unusual on technical trails, but not ideal for 5th gen.. (Jeeps and anything with wide tires outside the body will more or less self correct....) Snorkel makes them all a bigger challenge. I've done the trail 5-10 times without ever having an issue. But this was first time with the snorkel and I guess I was over confident....

Not going to get into this with you... Yea, I made a mistake. I'll use different words and call it an opportunity for improvement for when mistakes are made when off-roading. They seem to happen all the time, but maybe it's just me. :rockthrow:
Just seems kind of pointless to run armor and what not.. Then have this big bubble in the blind spot on your fender that will dent your fender if it scrapes anything with much force.... One more attachment point would make it much less likely to dent IMHO.
I'm trying to give first hand experience.. nothing I gain out of this. Good luck.

Good input. Seems this snorkel thing isn't going to help the guys who do the type of trails you do. A damage multiplier of sorts. I've been following this snorkel thing casually but curious, why did you personally add one? I know you push the fiver gen pretty hard, more than 99.9% on here so I'm genuinely curious as to your motives for putting this on. I get the whole cleaner air filter thing...and the guys who want a Aussie style overlander but I can buy a lot of filters for $550 and the damage you had is what worried me the most honestly as here in Oregon, our trials get tight with rocks and trees.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep it in mind and I could see how that could happen. For me, it did not take long after the snorkel install to forget it was even there.
