I got the Hewitt Tech SAIS plug in bypass kit with pump pack back in April. Got the kit installed and had a friend erase the CEL light and codes. Everything has been fine since, until yesterday after the wife dropped mini me off at school. Started the 4Runner and CEL came on. Had it scanned and throws all the same codes from before I installed the complete bypass kit. Has anyone else had a kit only work for so long? I checked all connections and wiring, everything appears fine. The kit has worked fine for 8 months, and of course at the worst time of the year goes out(if it’s the kit that went bad). I’ve emailed Hewitt tech about the issue and just waiting to hear back. I was just curious if anyone else had had the same issue.

I emailed them last night to see. Hopefully it is! It’s only been on the truck 8 months. This thing is just a pavement queen that hauls my kid to kindergarten then work each day, maybe 15 miles around trip. So it’s not like I’ve had the thing off-road buried in mud or water.
By now you've probably learned that these bypass kits only work for a year or so. I just had to have my bypass disconnected and fork up 3 grand to get my 2007 Limited V-8 back to reliable status. What did you end up doing? I let mine go with all the darn lights on my dash until it totally conked out in line at the McDonalds drive up.

Mine went bad around the two year mark, Hewitt-Tech stepped up and sent me a new one recently. I don't believe it was the module that went bad, but a short of sorts somewhere in the supplied wire harness.
Wow. After 2 years? It's probably too late for me now because I had to take mine to the dealer. But I'm still going to look into what kit my mechanic used. It's been in and out of dealer 4 times in past two weeks and I'm still getting the same dash lights all coming on after a couple of days after picking it up. I can't take much more of this.
B17Babe.....are you referring to Hewitt Tech Bypass kits? I've been using a simple relay based system for YEARS.....probably 8? or so without any issues. I also have hundreds in the field that have little to no failure rate.
I know mine last more than "a year or so" for sure.
I replied to your other thread too.....let us know your codes, we can help. Screw the dealer! The system will just fail again.
I doubt my dealer will undo their work and refund my money unless I can prove my car didn't need their own system in the first place.
I had a mechanic do the bypass in March 2019. I'll see what system he used back then.
I was up a tree. I'm female and older and freaked out by those dash lights and car conking out. My V-8 also 10/06 manufacturing date as another on this thread.
Sorry if I doubted anyone's bypass system. I know the dealer is taking me for a ride. $3,000. out and same codes. And I still don't have my car!!!!!
For the SAIS Bypass, Did you also install the Exhaust block off Plates?
I installed a Hewitt SAIS Bypass Module the Gen 1 version. This is the "Plug and Play" version. You plug it in and run one wire over to the starter relay. All that was easy.
I have not installed the exhaust block-off plates. That looks difficult. The nuts and bolts that hold the air tube in place are very hard to reach. You might be able to get to one but the second one will be very hard.
I will try to attach pictures.
Have any of you done that? My SAIS is stuck in the closed position. Does that make installing the blocking plates less critical?

If your bypass system stops working, or you start getting the same codes as before, the first thing I would check would be the signal wire from the starter solenoid. The instructions only say to "...reconnect it to the started relay as previously connected" The "as previously connected" was "Temporarily connected it to the terminal". Figure 8 in the document I have, shows the starter signal wire taped into the switched leg of the started relay.
Taping the signal wire to the leg of the starter relay is not a permanent fix! It is bound to come loose. I soldered the wire to the leg of the relay.
To test that you have a good connection from the starter relay I connected a simple test light to the end of the signal wire. I took the connector off of the module and connected my test light to it. Position the test light where you can see it and start the SUV. The test light should come on for a second. If it does not come on, that could be the cause. Once you know that you are getting a good signal to the module and clear the existing codes, it might take a "driving cycle" to get everything reset and an OBDII tester to show all checks are "Ready" and none "Incomplete" . One "drive cycle" involves driving at different speeds and, unless you research what is required for your vehicle, might take a week.
