Pushing the 4Runner hard enough in the turns to come to the conclusion that it suffers from under steer is foolish and dangerous to your self and others on the road. With the higher center of gravity in this type of vehicle it was never intended to be pushed or driven in this manner. The Xreas suspension allows the 4Runner to handle better in the turns which does give you better control. But still it is not designed to be driven hard and fast in turns.
Perhaps you should do your self and others on the road a favor and purchase a sports car which has a more neutral balance and lower center of gravity so you don't kill any body through your reckless driving.
SUV's do have a higher propensity of roll over in this type of driving then cars do. It is clear through your comments that a SUV is not the correct choice for you.

Regarding the tree reference, "analogies" must have been left out of your school curriculums.
If you want to talk rollovers, think back to the fall of 96

The fact that you purchased and owned an Isuzu Trooper for 10 years basically tells us you know nothing about advanced driving skills, and have no clue how to take a vehicle for a test drive. A knowledgeable person would have ran not walked away from that inferior vehicle. If you knew how to judge a vehicle's handling characteristics you never would have purchased that vehicle.
You have no business talking about under steer, over steer, or anything else regarding a vehicles ability to handle any given situation. The reason you never rolled that vehicle is because you never pushed it hard in the turns. Not a big shocker there.

I also heard that it is a lighter V8, too (not today's 215 lb premium over the V6).

I really hope I did not make a huge mistake purchasing this vehicle. If gas really does make the climb to those levels, driving will be the least of our worries. Just imagine how much everything from groceries to clothing will shoot up in cost. Shipping costs will skyrocket, and the economy will suffer. Gas goes up and the DOW goes down.
007Runner said:What does this have to do with sales of the V8 engine dropping or the price of gas?
down_shift said:Still googling for weight of the 4.6L dual VVT-i, but any savings helps. The 2009 redesign of the 4Runner will probably accomodate this new block.
