This is a clear case of misunderstanding causality and correlation..
or in layman's terms... mere coincidence. I don't see anything close to causality in terms of your oil change. A normal change would not produce the results you are talking about. A HUGE engine sludge problem MAY, but if you have that much sludge in your engine... I wouldn't be driving it and trying to figure out the best way to clean it.
As far as I know.. the 4th gen runners have not had the sludge problem that older runners and tacomas had.
My personal opinion? Your focusing TOO much on the oil change issue, when even if closely timed, in my opinion from what you described, has little connection.
In grad school, I was told this: Just because you see people who swim buying slushes, doesn't mean swimming makes people want one. We know, now, it is the heat...
but.. if you didn't know any better... you would think jumping in a pool made one want one.
The two are CORRELATED... but there isn't causality.
So. My suggestion? Ignore the OIL CHANGE and focus solely on your symptoms.
Oil Sludge can cause strain/sluggishness... but too have that level of sludge, you either need to have not maintained the vehicle or have some huge design flaw. The Older Runners, for example, did have a bad/sludge prone design...
Usually with BAD sludge you have a PSI issue.. the oil pump can't get the oil moving at the right amount due to the blockage..
Anyway. Just thoughts.
