San Antonio 4runners?

Hey guys,

I'm in need of some help. I have a 98 limited 4x4. I keep getting a lot of wheel shake when I'm driving between 50 and 70 miles an hour. I'm changes the inner and outer tie rods, lbj, steering rack bushings, cv's, and brake pads, and rotors. I have also gotten the tires rotated and balanced multiple times to no avail the issue is still present. I'm was wondering if anyone locally would be willing to help me identify the issue. I'm willing to pay and provide beer. If not can you recommend any good shops that won't try to scam me?

What kind of shape are your front shocks in? Any abnormal tire wear? I went through the same thing with my last set of tires because I had a bad shock on my front driver side. I took so long to diagnose and repair it I ended up having to replace a good bit of hardware under the front of the 4R.

Hey all! Upgrading suspension. Will have a full set of ICON VEHICLE DYNAMICS stage 1s available for purchase in March timeframe. PM if interested.

Will fit 2010+ 4Runner and 2010 FJs.

What are you upgrading to?

All,

I just purchased a front runner slimline roof rack, gobi ladder and light bar. Do you know anyone in San Antonio that you'd trust with the install?

Thank you

Who did you get to install your rack. I'm afraid to drill up in front. And did they do a good job? Thanks in advance.

98 V6 engine misfire help

Hello Y'all,

My engine problems started when cylinder 4 started to misfire. After replacing the plugs, wire and coil's the problem continued. I ordered 6 new fuel injectors and replaced them. Now I'm having a misfire that's worse then when I started in cylinder #6. Is there anyone locally with knowledge on how to troubleshoot the issue?

Thanks!!!

Checking In

Hey y’all. Checking into this thread and back into San Antonio. I was here back in 2010 and into th FJ Forum quite a bit (same screen name). Moved to Germany for a while, and now stationed back here again. Picked up T4R and looking to reconnect with the off roading folks here locally.

I’m driving a ‘16 Trail in Super White, matte bronze SCS wheels, and Icon lift. Honk, wave, throw a finger, whatever, if you see me on the road. Live on Northside and work at Ft Sam.

Will subscribe to this thread and if anyone has other links to social media sites for local groups I’d appreciate them. Looking forward to linking up for some wheeling!

Mike

I am not going to make it. We have to put my dog down that morning. :(

There is also the one at COTA in Austin. They do a dirt track run after that one.

How do you like your rack.

Hey, we just moved to SAT and I was looking through this forum and saw your question here. I ended up getting a GOBI for our 4th gen and love it. How do you like your slimline and did you have to drill holes for it or does it use the factory rack anchor points like the GOBI?

Who did you get to install your rack. I'm afraid to drill up in front. And did they do a good job? Thanks in advance.

CV joints

Hey did you get this figured out? I had almost the same presentation and did a lot of the same stuff until I put on the new suspension and while I was under there I tore the boot off one of the CV joints- which I knew would need replacing soon anyways. Had the same issue with steering wheel shake from 50-65ish after the lift until I go the CV joints redone --> that was the issue and it went away instantly. Hope that helps. Good luck!

San Antonio area thread dead?

Haven't seen much activity from the San Antonio area but there are some badass 4Runners everywhere in this city.

Going to be ordering my Toytec lift soon and wanted to know who you guys would recommend for the purchase and install, it's an '07 2WD Limited. Thanks!

There is a "San Antonio 4Runners" (SA4R) group on Facebook that is fairly active along with the "San Antonio Tundra Crew" (SATC).

almost done

Shout out to C&W Off-Road in San Antonio for the install! Looks so much better now.
