Hello So-Cal,

Well after doing a little Recon of the Main Divide Road trail and talking to [MENTION=96235]Pisa 8687[/MENTION] we are going to put together a evening/night run on this trail.

DATE:

Nov. 16th

Time:

4:00pm Meet up at 33.653192,-117.411739(Main Divide Road) just off the 74 on the Ortega Hwy. (El Carison and the 74).

End time- TBD

Other:

The goal is to head out just after 4pm. We are going to try and get to Santiago Peak to catch the sun set over the ocean and continue to run the rest of the trial after that. Depending on how things are looking is the route and trails we will take.

CB Radio-

We will run on 25 depending on how much radio traffic is coming across on the trail. This time of year the conditions are great for picking up "Skip" so you can get guys all over the country

Food and water:

Eat before you come out, or have something to eat for the run or on top of the Mt.

Facility's:

You and the bushes.

Watch out for the Mt. Lions also while visiting nature. We are in there home in that area.

It's not hard at all. I ran almost everything in 2wd. I was just playing around when i put it in 4x4. This is just a beautiful drive and lots to see. The road is wide for two trucks to pass in most places.

As for time, I'm not going to be in a rush at all. I fig by that time it will be getting dark around 5:30-5:50pm. After that we can run the trails when the sun goes down for a bit then roll out.

That's just up the hill from us, so we're in. Hopefully have the suspension in by then and will be a nice little shake down for it.

Orange County-

If someone from the Orange County side would please take the rains and set up a place to meet and caravan to the 74 that would been good.

Inland Empire-

I will meet all the guys coming up from the San Diego area off the 15 freeway at Temecula Parkway Exit (Turn Left and meet at the Park and ride area, we can gas up there if you need to and get some food also). Meet up time is 3pm sharp, I will roll out at 3:10pm. That will give us plenty of time to make it up to the 74. If you are running late for some reason just keep on going to the main trail head and meet us there or catch up.

Guys coming from Carona area we can meet at the start point off the 74 so you do not have to back track.

Los Angeles area-

If anyone comes from that area we will set something up so they can all cruise together.


This is already looking like a good turn out, hope we can get some more and get a good run in.

I'm a "maybe" at this point as well because I'm in Sacramento for work on the 12th -- 15th. If the return trip goes smoothly I'm in...

Getting SS 7.2 installed and some other misc. maintenance done at the Truck Shop today, so I'd like the opportunity for a little shake down run, too.

I'll take the lead for the OC. We can all meet up at the gas station on Chapman/Jamboree at 3pm, wheels up at 3:30. If you're running late, you can catch us on the trail. We'll stop at 4 corners for a few minutes to take a quick breather.

Note: When you continue up the trail towards the peak, just past 4 Corners- it does get rocky. If you're going to get a flat, this is where it will happen. Be sure you have a good spare/wrench and jack. Also, if you're going to mess around in 4wd; bring your recovery gear. Some of the offshoots can be fun but tricky. I'll be bringing something to eat/drink at the peak, you might want to as well. Due to the elevation; when the sun drops it will get cold up there. Dress accordingly and bring a flashlight. If it's clear out, you get one hell of a light show up there, so I'll be hanging around after sunset.

To be clear, are there two groups going up? One group coming up from the Ortega Highway/74 side and another group going up from the Silverado Canyon/Maple Springs side?
