I see you said 4 hours after the fact. That was how long it took from Ortega bluebird entrance and exiting thru Maple springs. It was a fun trip, I would definitely do it again.

Maple Springs is always a quick and easy drive to quench the thirst.

I actually just went out there today! Cruised up the main divide and drove around for a few hours. First time out there so was trying to get a feel for the place. Can anybody recommend some good trails or roads to drive on out there? I got out to about right before Elsinore then headed back down. Also, how can I find the towers?

I'm new to this hobby but I tried to go up maple springs today in stock t4r. Got about .25 miles before I hit a section there was no way I could get through without high centering IMO. Either I've got a lot to learn about how much clearance this thing has, can't see the lines, or the trail has decayed since the Camry went up it .

You sure you were on Maple Springs? I haven't seen any reports lately but I doubt we've had enough rain to erode it that badly and they usually keep it graded.

Yes it was definitely maple springs... just before the first big left hand turn there was a section with two very deep whoops on the left and one on the right... no way to position the tires on the rims of them. I couldn't see how the left side and probably center of the underside wouldn't be hitting.

I don't think you were on the right trail... This guy exited Silverado Canyon, which is the maple springs road.

I know what spot you are talking about. and yes you can make it without hit anything or high centering. I did the whole trail in my lifted Volvo wagon with 4 people in and open diff

You'd be surprised what your stock 4runner can handle!

Even this sedan made it up to 4 corners from Maple springs Rd. The road is pretty tore up with big holes I'm quite amazed this sedan made it up without any casualties

Drove to Saddleback Peak this afternoon from Maple Springs to the towers and took Indian Truck Trail to get down.

Road is decent , not too rutted. Two wheel drive unless your line is sloppy then you might need 4High in a few places.

Flies were not abundant, small game everywhere, a few coyotes howling in the afternoon. Chased some does down the trail for about 3/4 mile. They will feel my arrow come archery season later this year.
