I mounted mine in the cubby also. The only thing I did was put the antenna on top of the dash in the drivers side corner. BIG MISTAKE! Reception is not as good inside the glass. On my Honda it's on the roof and it's ten times better!

Here's my install, I just decided to get rid of that little cubby. Tucked all the wires and ran the aux wire underneath the shifter through the bottom of the ceter console.

I really like that!!!! I'm debating on taking out the cubby door and mounting the base there like you did.

Thanks, yea its a pretty damn good spot. I just got a 7" double din so the satellite radio will be controlled through the screen.

You'll like that. It's one of the main reasons - aside from the factory backup camera - that I got the system in mine that I did. I already knew I could hook my Sirius right up to that particular nav system, right out of the box (well, with one extra piece anyway - the Sirius Toyota/Lexus/JBL adaptor). It's quite nice to not even see the plug and play tuner but still have Sirius on-board and controlled through the in-dash touchscreen AND still have the ability to pop it out and take it in my other vehicles where I just have regular PNP docks installed.

Sat Radio start-up

My Sat Rad was installed by the stealer, and I have Sirius. Used to be an XM fan but channel 28, The Faction with Jason Ellis has made up for it. Anyways, the wire antenna is on the passenger's side in the window. HORRIBLE PLACE. If I start up the 4runner and there's crappy reception, the Sat Rad just plays static bumbs over and over like a record player. I have to cycle the ignition to reset the power and hope I'm in a better area than before. Anyone ran into this problem? My Sat interface is with an Eclipse touch screen not that it matters. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this, and fixed it? I don't have any play in the wire so moving around is out. If I have to I'll splice it myself.

XM has Jason Ellis on channel 52. He also has a best of show on the weekend XM 202/ Sirius 197.
