Satoshi Grill Mod Question

I could be wrong about this but from what I have noticed from looking at several of these Satoshi grill mod threads is that many of the guys who make them use the 96-98 grills. The middle bar on those year models is not flush with the outer edges of the grill, which makes it easier to hide your cuts with the mesh. I know that doesn't exactly answer your question and it doesn't mean it can't be done with your 99 grill, but its something to take in to consideration. Thanks for the info. If I do the mod I might just end up buying a 96-98 grill to make it easier as well as save my stock one.

You'll be much better off buying a 96-98 grille from partsgeek.com or Rockauto.com. They run $50-60 and are a direct fit. I've ordered 12+ from them and never had a problem.
These grilles work a lot better for the Satoshi, you can cut everything out, fiberglass and bonds everything up, and add your mesh.

I just bought a 1998 grill from parts geek and it doesn't fit my 2000 4Runner... Any thoughts!?

Better post pics of that issue......
FYI, I just did my '99 grill. Only because it was already cut up from inserting my lights in it. Now with my winch controller I needed to cut it up even more. So it's kind of like a prototype. But I would do the other style grill if you can. You end up with smoother lines.

Your rig is beautiful man... Thanks for the comment but I figured it out... The clips are just different shape than the holes so I had to do some trimming

I would recommend going with the older style grille. I've seen a few done with the 99 grille and it looks kinda cheap because you can't get the smooth lines you can on the earlier ones.
Nothing should have had to have been trimmed. The early style grille fit on my 01 perfectly.

It was just hard to push the pins in.. The pins on the new grill were circular and the holes on the car were scared

Ya, on some you have to shave down the pegs a bit. Its never on the same years, which is weird. I've had a couple people tell me they had to do it...one guy called freaking out about it.
It seems random, and no real pattern to which ones just slide right in and which ones need to be trimmed. Glad you got it to work.

How big is the grill? Like holes in the grill and what not? Because I have the same logo! It's just idk what grill to use... Thanks man !Just fyi, I did end up doing the grill mod. Thanks for the advice, it was very helpful.

I actually used nylon zip ties to get the logo on, so if you use that method the size of the holes on the grill don't matter as much.
