Scangauge Alternative

So I've seen the scangauge, but I wasn't so interested in having a scroll bar display. I started poking around and found a similar product but this one has a std round gauge. You can cycle through various parameters. You can also get a Toyota faceplate in lieu of the company branding which is a plus to me. One of the reasons I didn't like the scangauge ii was the mounting would look to far from OEM.

Anyone have experience with this? I see they are using the CAN version on a Tacoma forum.

I am thinking I am going to order it and replace my ATF gauge since I learned I can get ATF temp off the OBD port for 99+ and also get other information all in 1 gauge. MPG and ATF temp is all I am really interested in.

That looks pretty overpriced. The cycling through the parameters is not advantageous to me as I want to look at a certain parameter, not repeatedly glance at it waiting for the one I want to come up.

The 2 channels of analog input is a very nice feature IF you actually have something specific you want to display. If not, then it is gimmicky and just ups the price as they have to add on a couple A/D converters.

The warning lights are probably my favorite feature that I see. That is a pretty useful function, but sad that you only get 1 threshold light.

It is a nice looking package and has some unique features that the scangauge doesn't have, but I am not sure any of them are useful to a person that just wants to add a couple gauges to their IP. Scangauge is better for that because it is cheaper, shows 2x as many gauges, can be programmed to read non-standard gauges, and is half the price.

If you don't like the mounting options for the scangauge, that's a fair beef, but I wouldn't say it looks bad if you do it right. I have mounted mine 2 different ways that looked very stock. Plus you can change the color to be whatever you want, so you can match the stock green, or match your aftermarket head unit like I have.

^ you don't have to have the 8 pages of 2 cycle. You can set what pages you want and if you want them to autocycle or not.

The 1 or 2 parameter warning lights seems like one of the best features to a near stock 4runner. The 2 analog inputs could be good if you have oil pressure, MAP, or air/fuel sensor, and also the relay trigger. Clearing codes might be useful also.

I see the biggest drawback is the set list of parameters, scanguage I think you can program in more but I don't know what data is on the OBD

Huh? There is no scroll bar on the scangauge...that I'm aware of at least.
